Sounds like you about about 6 Matt Carle's on your team.

Hopes for the 55 pages of Carle sucks posts.

We had a few Carle-esque shifts by our one d-man. Turnover behind the net resulted in a similar goal to the Carle turnover. He flubbed two other clears, one that resulted in a down low 2v1 goal and the other resulted in a penalty for hooking, and they scored on the PP. He knows he was terrible in the 3rd.

Yup. Briere has to be better with the puck in that situation. His turnover caused the breakaway.

Jagr always gets caught dipsy doodling around the blue line too. Hate when they do that.

No goalie in the world would anticipate what happend before the 4th goal. I checked the behaviour of Lundqvist in this situation. It's the same. Actually he doesn't watch the carrier at all.

Wasn't Carle responcible for the turnover that lead to Malone's goal too? Poor game by Carle last night. I know good players have bad nights, but Carle doesn't do a single thing so good that I think I have to spend 5+ million on him. He has a solid all around game, but doesn't excel at any 1 thing.
- RooNosHockey

I would disagree completely that Carle doesn't excel at any one thing. There's a reason why he leads all Flyers in TOI. And it was Briere's giveaway that led to the Malone goal.

Their PP is ranked high this year but it still seems like the Flyers have serious issues with it. They make too many passes at times, dont move the puck well, players standing still, and not creating any lanes. My biggest concern going into the playoffs is special teams. I have been saying this for awhile now but thats the difference come playoff time. The team that takes advantage on the PP and PK usually wins the series.

Just watching last night it seems like their is no flow to the Flyers PP imo.

Strange, I didn't think terrible, mistake prone defensemen got that much ice time on playoff bound teams

As much as I like Danny Briere and the game he played against the Canadiens, he is the reason this game was a loss. He was -3 and was the cause of the first two goals. He really needs to get his head on straight before the playoffs. Maybe he needs another fight - and hattrick.
- caniac11

There is no one player that is responsible for the loss. There were a number of mistakes made that contributed. Starting with the entire team coming out flat and a slow start in the first period.

Carle's a good puck mover, and a sound positional defenseman. He's also shown an ability to help "carry" a younger and more inexperinced defenseman as a partner and not have it hurt his game.

The thing that plagues Carle, and contributes to his reputation among fans is that when he does make a mistake, they can be glaring. But he's not mistake prone, nor is he a guy that consistently hurts the team.

I dont think the Flyers played as bad as people think. They gave up 14 total shots and dominated the Bolts. The goaltender at the other end played above his head last night. The Flyers make some mistakes (no doubt) but overall they were the better team last night.

The thing that is bothersome about the Flyers is that when they're looking good, they look like world beaters and when they're not clicking they look like a lottery team. The PP is a microcosm of that. Overall the PP is among the top 10 in the NHL. But when it's struggling, it looks like Shane McGowan after a bender.

Its going to be a crazy off-season for Goalies this year... Roloson and Borduer are likely to retire. Clemmenson, Vokoun, and Biron are the best crop of UFA goalies... and New Jersey, Tampa, Chicago, Toronto, Columbus, and Washington all need Goalies in my opinion.

Of course Vancouver will likely make Schneider available, as will LA with Bernier, Buffalo with Enroth or Miller, and Nashville with Lindback. So you have to wonder, with all the teams that need goaltending, will the Flyers deal Bob...

I agree. I see a lot of things that happened last night as out of the ordinary. The only real concern I have from last nights' game is the continued slow starts to the game.

Which teams need goaltending?

Tampa. Columbus. Maybe San Jose. Maybe Chicago.

If I'm Tampa or Columbus, I'm going after a Schneider. Bernier has played solidly, but he needs more time. I doubt he's ready to be a 55 game starter. Lindback has been really up and down this year.

Biron, Clemmenson and Emery are guys I see as backups. Vokoun could start, but he's been less than stellar in Washington this year.

I think we're in a nice position where he can be made available for the right price, but we're not in a situation where it's imperative to deal him.

Thats been an issue that continues to happen more often then not. That is a concern when they get into the playoffs bc you cant continue to trail in games especially against the better teams.

If Vancouver, Los Angeles and Nashville don't want to deal their backups, the Flyers might be able to get somebody to overpay for Bobrovsky.

But it's not a pressing issue.

When the Flyers signed Bryzgalov to that monster contract it pretty much summed up what Bob's future to this team is. Its good to have a guy like Bob to back him up bc of injury but he will never be the starter if the two are healthy. Like you said its not a pressing issue but if you can get something nice in return I wouldnt hesitate to pull the trigger.
