so what you're saying is that the ONLY stat that matters is number of wins?

dude, your arguments make no sense. so when considering the Hart, should they not look at someone's production prior to say the new year. when evaluating the adams, should they not count a teams success prior to the all-star break?

If all you look at is a sample size of around 30% of the entire season (which is EXACTLY what you did, 26 games), you can make a lot of players look like award winners.

there's a reason they play the whole season, and a reason the whole season counts.

- sensarmy_11

No man im saying he has won 41 games over the WHOLE SEASON. He has been winning since october with the team decimated by injuries ,not just since he has been on the insane run. So should they not look at wins over the WHOLE SEASON or is it just stats? If it is a mix can you please tell me your math on when stats become more important than wins or when wins become more important than stats?

Everyone else here is saying who should be in the conversation and you seem to think you know already who is gonna win based on.........well im still trying to figure that out to be honest.

Let's be honest here...

Fleury is a great goalie but is not necessarily recognized as such because of the team in front if him.

With his 41 wins this year...and his .918 save percentage...and his relatively low goals against of 2.24 (when you compare him to other guys that have played a similar number of games and minutes)...he deserves to be in the conversation about Vezina finalists and more so than any other year so far, he probably deserves to be a finalist.

Who will be the finalists...tough to say but the consensus is probably Lundqvist, Rinne and Quick.

With a little more than a handful of games left for each team, it may come down to how the goalies perform in these final two weeks.

If Fleury finishes strong...maybe he nudges one of those guys out of the running.

Personally, I don't think Lundqvist can be the winner unless he plays well in these last few games.

If the Rangers lose the top spot in the East...and Lundqvist doesn't play like he did earlier in the year, this will further the argument that he should not win the award.

Of course, it's not up to me...

So who knows what will happen....

Personally, I don't think Lundqvist can be the winner unless he plays well in these last few games. A 5-4-1 March, while giving up AT LEAST 3 goals in every game but 1...and giving up 4 in 4 of them, is not what I think displays the consistency of the Vezina winner.

If the Rangers lose the top spot in the East...and Lundqvist doesn't play like he did earlier in the year, this will further the argument that he should not win the award.

All numbers aside, it should come down to the eye test. I was @ the Blues/Pens game in January in STL with a couple friends from NY who are die hard Rags fans. While they all said HL is more technically sound, they all came away impressed with Fleury's timely saves and ability to keep the team in the game when it matters.
As far as others saying Fleury's #s are more a funtion of the team in front of him, I cant see how that counts more against Fleury than HL. They are both playing backstop to some pretty good teams.

Varly has also faced 15 less shots, shootout wise that is a ton.
- ryman1566

The other guy said that Fleury was clearly the best in the shootout -- the numbers indicate otherwise. No big deal, I think Fleury has been great, deserving of a Vezina nomination. He doesn't need anyone exaggerating his performance vs other goalies to support that claim.

The Kings have lost nine times this season in games where Jonathan Quick has allowed just one goal.

Quite pathetic the lack of offense from LA this year, really no excuse for it.

That team has so much firepower, I have no idea how they've been so bad this year, I don't think they can even blame it on injuries too much.

It speaks to the pressure that Quick feels every night -- it's pretty close to being "shutout" or bust for him.

Mike Richards goal scoring has bottomed out since his concussion. Only four goals since December 23rd.

No goals in the entire month of February.

IMO he should be the starter for USA in 2014, and I feel the same way for Fleury and Lundqvist for their respective countries as well.

It wouldn't be fair with all of the talent in front of MAF for Canada.

Havent watched many Kings games this year but it has been pretty quiet this season as far as Kopitar and Brown go. That team seems to rely heavily on those two to get the team going.

It'll probably be Quick, Miller, and Howard or possibly Schneider depending on if he gets a chance.
