That was 80's hockey vs clutch and grab 90's with 90's refs. Watched the DVR of the game late last night when I got back.

Perfect description of that game.

When Crosby took that really big hit, that guy was holding him with two hands before he completed the tackle. I thought it was a miracle that Sid jumped up with no problems.

If the NHL is trying to slow the game down....it's working. Sad thing is.... it won't make a damn bit a difference with concussions.

So if the Pens practice today, is everyone gonna be holding their breath on Sid, Letang, and Malkin, esp if they don't practice, cause Malkin was still shaking his thumb in the third, Letang just got beat up all night, (the helmet to helmet was his doing tho, James Harrison is gonna get a 50k fine for that) and Sid got pasted real good in the later half of the game. BTW didn't Cooke do something similar in the corner and get a penalty for it???

Malkin would not have been out there for the empty netter if he wasn't right.

They might get maintenance days but Letang is the one to watch closely IMO.

Was driving to 5 Guys Burgers and Fries on Saturday afternoon, and had the fan on, and the host was talking hockey, (only because the callers were sick of Pitt/Pirates talk) and I can't remember what the hosts name was, but he was talking about how the Pens could win with any goalie in net, and MAF wasn't vital to the team. I was dumbfounded, did any one else hear it?? Would have been around 2:30 ish.

Then they proceeded to give up 8 with a different goalie just hours later.

Humorous is nicely putting it, insane is the word I would use. To be fair this paticular host was brutal in Hockey knowledge, in talking about the best goalies in the NHL, he never brought up Pekka Renne once in a 10 minute conversation, but managed to include Corey Crawford.......

Gunner, you can thank Carbonara's Ristorante, in part, for the hockey matchup. If I had waited to see if Rinne or Lindback was starting for Nashville -- instead of going out for dinner -- our outcome would've had different results. Anyways, congratulations. They've got great pizza at Carbonara's, but truth be told, I would have preferred winning our head-to-head meeting. Congrats on beating me, hard as that is to acknowledge, haha.

That would have been Andrew Filiponi, the resident chicken little.

Looks like it's Foster vs. Balls for all the marbles. Congratulations guys.

I got lucky no doubt. Not too many people can destroy me in the hitting category like the Schock Jacques can.

It will also be nice to have Dustin Brown on my team as opposed to playing against him and getting owned like 12 years ago!

From Clout blog.

What team can't be stopped by a hot goaltender? Seems like our luck the last two years that we run into the leagues hottest goalie in the playoffs.

- kgrpitt

I don't think that last season we lost because of a hot goalie. We lost because Crosby and Malkin were out, we have Kovalev, and our PP went 1-37.

We went one for -87, I believe, or one for -71, either way!

I just checked, the sky isn't falling. Guess we can cross him off the trustworthy/knowledgable list. Next.

Right, I txt'd and asked how valuable MAF was when Sid, Malkin and half the team was on IR and the team still went to game 7 of round one. I was shocked when he didn't respond or read it on the air.

No doubt that was the bigger part but Roloson was playing alot better then what he really is and I guess that is what I was calling "a hot goalie". Power play went 1-37 due to Roloson making some great saves along with not having enough fire power too.

Haha on ESPN's hockey page in LeBrun's "rant" section there is a picture of a Buffalo fan giving the finger to Kevin Faulk. I bet that guy is feeling like a tool right now. Shame on you Buffalo!

Edit: They just took it down.

2 things. How did Team Bell do in the playoffs. And secondly Sid's goal last night made me feel like he's really back. Then I yelled Oh no when he got hit in the corner. He seems to be ok though. Zidlicky should lose a foot for letting that same move happen to him twice in one game. What a goal. Staal Duper wow! that's all I can say about them. Matt Cooke is unreal right now. I know he didn't score last night but he should have had 3 if it wasn't Marty in net. Then I saw him lay a few hits that made me smile. Hopefully Nisk gets back soon and we keep it rolling. LGP! I'm pumped today.

Sorry I just read this after I posted it and I'm so scatter brained in this post.

2 things then you list ten. How dare you. haha

I agree with all of this. Staal's skill has caught up to his size this year it seems. He was always a bit "clumsy" for lack of a better word but his game is really coming together nicely. We need to continue getting scoring from our second tier guys and if we do we are going to be scary come playoff time.

I'm sure I will get grilled but I'm not missing Vitale being out of the lineup.

Edit: TK had 9:58 last night. Seems unfair since he has been doing a bit better recently.

Lloyd: The bottle's almost full and I'm still going.

Harry: So stop going.

Lloyd: I can't stop going once I've started. It stings.

i have such a conundrum with staal. i feel like every goal he scores, his value is just going up and up and thus making him harder to sign. yet i feel the nights when he doesnt get a lot of ice time ultimately leave him unsatisfied and less willing to sign here long term. and a solution of a lot of unproductive ice time doesnt help anyone haha
