How long before Polanco or Rollins hit the DL? - stveshdy
It's amazing that for ao long the phillies had terrible pitching. Amd now that they have great pitching and more pitching prospects..... our hitters are nowhere ro be found. On the field or in the farm system
I disagree that it's good for the game or the NHL. If fans simply need to see a winner, then seeing a kid win the "What cup is the logo under game" should suffice.
I just have trouble agreeing that deciding the winner of a game without playing the same sport that was played for 65 minutes is a good idea, regardless of the entertainment value. I'd be more open to agreement if the points system was tweaked to lessen the weight of a shootout or even OT win. - Jsaquella
We all have our opinions about it. But there's no doubt that a shootout has been good for the game and the NHL. I know that from the excitement in the crowd, which is feedback from the fans, when there's a shootout. You even see it from the players on the bench during a shootout. It has added to the excitement and to the experience for the majority of fans. I don't think there is any doubt about that.
I think most of those who were apprehensive about him sticking were worried about his ice time and development more than being physically overmatched. I knew he was a good two way center in the QMJHL, but I had no idea how good and well developed his hockey sense and feel for playing in his own end were.
He's done a fantastic job, and could easily become a Jordan Staal type player in the near future. - Jsaquella
His offensive skill set is superior to Staal's in my opinion. I like to think of him as a hybrid between Staal and Lecavalier. I think he could be that special of a player.

Very true, Homer nabbed a real special guy in Couturier at 8. Glad we traded carter for two quality players. Boom
Gee, too bad the Buzzgate was by super secret handshake. It always seemed to me there were enough people around you could have a good time and avoid anyone you really wanted to when it was open to all.
Good to see Danny light the lamp a couple of times. Jags set him up perfectly for the trick, but it was not to be.
The youngsters worked hard for that last goal. - bodiva88
agreed ... my girlfriend and I went to the game last night, and were WAY early with about 2 hours to spare. Would have been fun to stop by for a few minutes to meet a few people from hockeybuzz. Instead, she forced me to go shopping for baby Flyer gear for about an hour.
For the last few games I was posting how Briere was going to get 2 goals ... and of course he didn't. He's my g/f's favorite player, so it figures he'd get 2 while she was there.
The game was good, and Bryz made some big saves at big times. It was one of those games the Flyers might have lost earlier this year, or in past years, as they wouldn't have had the goaltending early on. Timely saves are everything in this league.
Just a great moment to see Pronger at the game. One sometimes forgets that we're missing one of the all time great D men. I'm not sure if that was the first time he's been back around the team and/or facilities, but it's gotta be a good sign of his mental well being. Good to see you, Prongs.

I think he can be a better point producer then Jordan Staal also. But if he turns out to be the same player as Staal is, I'll be very happy with that. I like to compare him to Jonathon Toews.

If he could be another Toews, we'd be ecstatic. Hell, I'd be more than happy with Staal level play

Comparing Couturier to Toews is pretty high standard. Toews is a hell of a player and can do it all on the ice. Not saying Couturier can't be as good but he has a lot of work to do before he gets to that level. He has done a nice job for a 19 year old kid. He is on his way no question about that.

It certainly is high. I consider Toews to be the best 2 way forward in the NHL. He can dominate at both ends of the ice. We've already seen what Couturier's defensive checking game is like. We'll see if his offensive skills develop in the NHL, and what the ceiling is there.
I love this young group of Flyers. Reed, Scheen, Couturier, Simmonds, Voracek make up the best group of young Flyers forwards of my lifetime possibly. I can't wait for vanRiemsdyk to get back on the ice and provide the team with even more depth. I hope that in the offseason, the Flyers dump Briere and his $8 million dollar cap hit somewhere else. His cap hit after this season would go down to $3 million if he was on another team. $8 mil for him is not worth keeping him around, but $3 mil would be a steal if he went to another team. I know he has a NTC but they should see if he would be open for making a list of suiters. With Jagr being 40, they sure could use another top line forward next year. Zach Parise or Rick Nash would obviously be a great addition.
