lol behind a team not nearly as good as vancouvers. plus he started off good but had a serious injury like miller did. look how long it took miller to get back his confidence after he came back from his concussion. same applies with reimer
- matt1337

Then they should have planted him in the minors until he got his confidence back.

Bottom line is I'm not interested in seeing another season of this kind of goaltending and right now it is a 50/50 chance at best that he'll do what he did last year for all of next season and that isn't good enough.

For example, and just an example because he might not be available, but if we traded for Halak then Reimer would be quickly forgotten.

By the way, Halak is another guy who established himself as a backup first.

I'm just saying we need to be realistic because 6 good weeks last year and 2 good weeks at the beginning of this season doesn't make Reimer a future #1 for years and years.

Who are these great ones that have come in prior to age 24 .. and been ranked (read drafted higher)? Please do tell.
- BorjeFan4Ever

That's my point. I was challenged to list goalies drafted higher than Reimer and who performed better than Reimer at his current age.

I think the question for the guys who were arguing for Reimer is why he was drafted lower?

you cant plant him in the minors, he has a 1 way contract he would've had to pass through waivers for him to go and he would've been picked up.

so when we draft this next kid in the top 5 when he doesnt make the leafs squad right out of camp are you going to be calling for him to be dealt?

Its called a conditioning stint.

If Reimer was drafted in the top 5 I wouldn't be calling for him to be dealt. This is my point entirely. Why does everybody think he is going to be the #1 goalie we've been looking for all our lives. He turned back into a pumpkin already.

thats smart, so what you want to take games away from scrivens and rynnas? playing him in the ahl wouldnt help anyways. why, so he can get comfortable playing against sh!t players like pogge did?

I want a bonafide #1 goalie to put this issue to rest once and for all, the debate is about not doing that and giving Reimer a veteran backup and more time.

So you believe that Reimer will be the #1 goalie of the future and instead of him rebuilding his confidence after a concussion in the AHL you stick him in the NHL to get shell shocked all because Scrivens and Rynnas won't get enough time in the AHL. Two goalies who if Reimer is your #1 will never be more than a backup.

That's for Burkie to figure out. This issue has been going on since Belfour.

I'd even overpay and take on a ludicrous contract like Luongo's at this point.

what if reimer does become our #1 but walks as a free agent? still need to develop our other goalies in the system

i'd said that too. im not saying reimer shouldn't be back up, i'm saying we shouldn't give up on him like you said. one guy i would take on is backstrom from minny, let them resign harding, and we take backstrom for his last year. use reimer as back up and he can learn from backstrom

Why? We never developed Reimer in the AHL. He never even had a full season's workload between the AHL/NHL.

Bolded and underlined above is what my main point is. Nobody can say anything for sure about Reimer.

Get the true #1 goalie, I don't care what happens to Reimer after that.
