which is why hes rated an 8.0C on hockeysfuture.com? he definitely has #1 potential, he just needs a vet mentor who will be able to give him confidence. when reimer goes to the bench, no one says anything to him cause they don't know what to say. gustavsson doesn't even look at him cause he doesn't know what to say either. give him a guy who can help him relax and stay focused and he should be fine. didn't you notice his best games were when giguere was backing him up and not gustavsson last year? leave him alone, he'll be fine
- matt1337

I noticed his best games last year were when the Leafs were playing relaxed because they had no shot at the playoffs.

Do you really want to risk going into next season with Reimer? At what point do you give up on him?

He is now at the point where he has had as many bad NHL games as good NHL games.

If Giguere being gone is the only reason he is struggling well then he's in big trouble because other than Giguere nothing else has changed from last season.

Seriously though, the Leafs need to give up on Reimer as being a #1 goalie who can help us challenge for a Cup at anytime in his future career.

He was never expected to be anything more than a backup and he had a good 6 weeks when the Leafs were out of the playoffs last year.

Now he is back to his normal self and that is being an average goalie who can play great for stretches but over the coarse of a full season is obviously another story.

The sooner everybody in the Leafs office recognizes this, the sooner this team will get back on track.

Yeah but he has such great nicknames.

He is basically Tim Tebow in a goalie mask.

You may get some wins but he won't take you anywhere significant.

For one, the only reason he was called up last year was because everybody was injured.

The rest is common knowledge, look it up.

- leafs93

I see a goaltender that won 20 times in 37 games last year. His rookie season.

I see a guy that has really struggled after a terrible injury. A guy with little to no confidence.

I see a guy who can bounce back and be a legit #1 goaltender. Superstar? No. Average to better than average? Yes.

The great ones come in and are lights out before 24. And usually they are ranked quite high before then unlike Reimer.

I'm just saying that we need a big time goalie, not a glorified backup.

Sounds like we are hoping that Reimer is one of those guys who was never going to amount to much and then suddenly figures things out a la Tim Thomas.

The question is how many guys turn it around like Tim Thomas? A heck of a lot less than the number of goalies who light it up before 24.

Well a reach around is likely out of the question.

What about a reach-under?

Here's a couple thoughts to ponder:
1. Bettman is ready to negotiate with the Union...
2. Wayne Simmonds met Will Smith at a Sixers game...

Not very many... hardly any.

Lundquist, Miller, Rinne, Kipper, and didn't even see action in the NHL till they were 24 let alone lights out.

It would be silly to give up on Reimer this early but Burke needs to at least find a vet for next season to take pressure off Reimer...Let him be the backup next season..

give up? hes 23. hes not even close to his prime yet and you already want to give up? its people like you that is wrong with leaf fans. one guy has a bad season and already want to give up. we are def going to get somewhere if we just keep giving up on players. what, this is the first leaf goalie we actually drafted that we actually gave a chance to become a #1. we gave up on rask and where did that leave us? and we left pogge in the AHL to long he got comfortable with being a decent goalie in a crap league when he got to the nhl he sucked and didnt get a chance with the leafs. he played a total of 7 games with us and we gave up on him. luckily he didnt turn out anywhere else but leafs ruined him. so the first goalie we drafted that we give a shot in over 15 years and you just want to dump him? thats what pisses me off about other leaf fans
