"The 16-year-old centre was the highest-scoring AAA minor midget hockey player in Ontario with 55 goals and 93 assists for 148 points in 86 games last season with the Markham Waxers".
This ^ is impressive! I'd say he has an offensive upside! - LeftCoaster
he's gonna be a good player.. he's got the size to maintain his aggressive drive to the net style at the higher levels |

I love the Conchords, also loved that the show got great ratings...after it got (frank)ing cancelled. Why does that always seem to happen? - AdamFrench
Saw them life when they came to Toronto -- great show. |

Which team has 2 1sts this draft? - weirdoh
Tampa, but they're trading them both to Vancouver for Schneider. |

My take is as follows:
It's been rumoured that price is looking in the $7 million per season range so if the price tag was an extra $700k would Montreal simply sign the offer sheet and basically use the Gomez money towards Price? Likely. The deal in order for Montreal not to want to match would have to be in the $7.9 or more range with the compensation of four 1st round picks.
That is something Montreal would be foolish not to let walk.
But signing Price would help you tremendously no doubt but why do it. If it's $77 for 10 years then why Not offer a lesser package to Vancouver for Schneider? Offer say Kadri and a 1st for Schneider and I am sure Vancouver would be interested? Maybe Schenn and a 2nd? Something along those lines? Then you sign Crawford to your 3-4 year deal in the $3.-4 million per season range.
If I am Montreal and Toronto offer say the $7.9 then I let him walk, take the four 1st rounders and then use 2 of them to trade for a another top young goalie and then still come out on top with the additional picks.

Burke WILL NOT OFFER AN RFA AN OFFER SHEET!!!
GM's in this league are their own worse nightmare. They create collective bargaining agreements to control salaries by bashing down the players for accepting huge contracts with massive restrictions. They win and get what they are looking for and then have to place in stricter laws because the lawyer driven league spends the entire CBA period finding ways to get around the rulles that they made.
Burke has always stuck firm to adhering to the rules. One thing you have to admire about Burke is he sticks to his word.
Also I highly doubt that Burke would trade Kessel no matter the game plan. The kid has had a breakout year and has done everything and more than what Burke has requested of him. So what if the kid doesn't interview great. He's talent and a centre piece to any team. He is not the reason the Leafs have failed this year and even in the new system he is putting up points.
Get someone physical for Kessel's line.
BTW if I was going to sign anyone to an offer sheet it would be Lucic next year. You also had to love Stamkos going after Phaneuf, wish we had him on our team.

I don't think Steve Yzerman is that stupid to do this. I doubt he would even trade 1 1st round pick for a backup after all its Steve Yzerman not the Avs GM. |

This is the happiest I've been as a Leafs fan in years.
They're on track to deliver everything I wanted this year:
1) Wilson fired
2) Lottery Pick
3) They actually have their first round pick
4) Burke's starting to realize that he's the face of the franchise which means they have absolutely no star player, which means there's a boat load of work to be done
Good times in Leafs-ville as far as I'm concerned. |

A guy can dream, although I do think that someone will offer a first round pick for Schneider. Luongo could be had for a first as well |

Kessel's a star player! He may be uni-dimensional...but he puts the puck in the net like few others. |

Right now the only 3 teams i see offering a 1st for Schneider is Columbus, Toronto and maybe Edmonton.
I don't think Schneider thrives on any of those teams though since they all basically suck defensively. |

Star player.....sure I guess.
But he's not the face of the franchise, every team in the league with the exception of possibly Winnipeg , Florida and St.Louis have a franchise player.
If you're going to be as arrogant and as cocky as Burke, he has to realize he has not lived up to what he preaches...not even close. |
