I don't know a healthy Lindros was a beast. In Hindsight they gave up to much as Foppa became a great player in his own right. - bird_dog
In hindsight, they should have yielded to Quebec's initial demand to include Rod Brind'Amour in the trade package (which would have been Brind'Amour, Butsayev (instead of Ricci), Duchesne, Hextall and the same picks and cash). The Flyers would then have had both Lindros and Forsberg. Quebec only backed Brind'Amour and Butsayev when the Flyers offered Ricci and Forsberg in their final offer.

Flyers magic numbers to clinch playoff berth:
Winnipeg: 1 point The Flyers have 94 points, the most the Jets can get is 94. If Winnipeg loses a point, or the Flyers gain a point, Winnipeg cannot pass them in the standings(outside of the Jets winning the Southeast)
Buffalo: 3 points. Buffalo can potentially finish with 96 points. If the Sabres lose in regulation and the Flyers lose in OT, the Sabres can not catch them.
Washington: 4 points. The Caps can finish with 97 points.
As long as there's 7 teams that can't catch the Flyers in points, they clinch a playoff berth. So far, Montreal, the Islanders, Toronto, Tampa Bay and Toronto can't catch them, no matter what they do. So as soon as two out of the above three can't catch Philly, the Flyers are in.
The other teams in the mix are not really a threat to keep the Flyers from clinching.
However, Ottawa can get to a max of 100 points. New Jersey can max out at 105. The Flyers can get as high as 110 points. Pittsburgh can top out at 116. Florida can get to 103. Boston can get as high as 107 and the Rangers can get to 117. |

i don't know, i think maybe they have. it seems they're playing a more cautious, defensive style game from start to finish and not being as aggressive. they look different. it doesn't help that their execution leaves much to be desired when they do get chances. - hammarby31
The passing is still off (gap between forwards and D not helping), but if they stop the fancy stuff and keep it simple (shoot puck at net, crash net for rebounds) they will be fine. Loving the #BryzstolStomp in the meantime. |

the top line, while being the only one scoring for the most part, is still too fancy with the puck, and turning it over in dangerous areas or killing a cycle with a low-percentage pass way too much for my liking.
i want to see hartnell and danny back together. the line of simmonds, briere and schenn is generating zilch. |

Yep. They'd need to catch either the Rangers of Pens (5 and 4 point gaps) and those teams both have a game in hand. Jersey could go on a run and catch them, but the Devils need to make up 5 points to do so, with no games in hand.
Of the teams that still factor into the Flyers clinching a berth, Winnipeg is the only one with a game in hand, but they'd need to get two points in every game and the Flyers would have to go pointless.
As far as seeding goes, NYR, Pittsburgh & the Jets have 1 game in hand on Philly. Boston has 2 games in hand on Philly. Everyone else has played 74 games, like the Flyers have. |

Do they save this stuff on CSN or elsewhere? I miss this most nights because a) I am on my way home from the game or b) my wife cannot stand Al Morganti, John Boruk, Michael Barkann, or whatever other host that has been crucifying Bryz all season so we I never get to watch the postgame. - Flyskippy
Sometimes they'll show some snippets on Sportsrise, but hardly ever those gems. They stick to the cliches.

Don't care.
I did make one error, the number for Buffalo is two points. If the Sabres lose in regulation and Winnipeg doesn't win tomorrow, the Flyers are a playoff team. The Sabres can't catch the Flyers in regulation/OT wins |

Kypreos is saying that the NHL has asked Duncan Keith to waive his right to an in person hearing, thinking he could get more than 5 games for elbow to Sedin |
