Good signing, and btw, tebow is a jet, wtf?
- nyi18

i happen to think it isnt TERRIBLE. as a backup and a TOTALLY different option from sanchez it could confuse defenses a little bit. and for a 4th rounder...i think its fine

I knew it was going to happen I said that from hmm I think November that dont be surprised if the Islanders try to resign Nabby and trade Montoya. Truth be known on trade day Montoya was being shopped and the Islanders were trying to resign Nabby. Its ok maybe one day you will get inside information as well

and you said you just "bumped into him" at Dunkin Donuts!

The Jets have traded a fourth-round pick for Tim Tebow, pitching him into a QB battle with Mark Sanchez

I feel the same way. Lets see what the Isles do next. Signing Nabby is probably their most unexpected good move in years.

Not really. They aren't signing Parise to a $10M per year deal AND Suter to an $8M per year deal. That brings them way over the cap floor, closer to the cap ceiling. They are a couple of million under, if that. Once they re-sign PAP, they will easily be over the floor. Wang is losing $20M a year on the Islanders; he's not spending much past the floor. Please get Parise and Suter out of your heads; winning teams can offer them similar money. Detroit and Los Angeles have been waiting for Parise; big spending teams always look for defense.

No telling what the Isles could have gotten for Nabby because they took him off the market on the morning of the trade deadline. I still think it would have been good keep him on the market that day to see what offers were there when he was putting up near-record numbers, but I'm definitely happy they at least didn't lose him for nothing and got him re-signed.

more likely running the 3rd down wildcat offense. this is the old Miami O coordinator.. no? my favorite part of the story is Cromartie already tweeted "we don't need Tebow" this will be one heck of a locker room. I hope they are on HBO again.

Nice to see Nabby in the fold for next year. Probably spells the end of Montoya. Hopefully, they'll eliminate DP from the roster and let one of Poulin/Nilsson back Nabby up next year.

Tebow the player as a second string, wildcat QB isn't bad, its all the baggage that comes with him that's a concern, the media hype, etc. I don't love it, but I don't see a problem with it either.

It's not Tebow himself. The kid is a winner. All heart and class act. But as you said, the minute Sanchez has a poor game, the pressure put on the team to make a change will be immense.

OK, now for a lil hockey talk...

Here's my thoughts on PA, I like the guy and I'd like to see him resign but not for a deal longer then 3 years and not at a $4 million price tag. Sorry but don't think he's worth it. I truly feel he is a good player but he also benefited by playing with JT and MM.

I say this cause Moulson scored 30 without PA feeding him the puck or chip'n in his rebounds. Same goes for JT, rookie season 24 goals... and lets look back at that season of 09-10 Mr Okposo seemed to do very well playing with those 2 and had many of us thinking he was bound to breakout big the next season. We even seen it for a lil this season when KO was put back with those 2.

As a test I kinda would like to see this team start messing around these final games just to see what else could work. Put PA on second line and keep him there just to see if he really can make some of our other players better and if he really is a playmaker this team can't afford to lose. Put Bailey on the top line just to see what happens with him playing RW with those 2. Put Okposo down on 3rd or 4th line until he learns how to become the player he should be, more like Cally, Dubi or Dustin Brown type. Move Martin all around just to see what can happen.

Seriously, 6 of these last 9 games are against playoff bound teams that will be playing hard, I think this would be a good test for some players to try to gain ground on somethings other than the we're just waiting for the season to end... and THAT is what should be being said to these players right now.

Also the best part with this plan is it can't be called tanking if they lose

I know, I know the Isles should hire me, but I too couldn't work under... the Great Wall of Wang

great post.. my thoughts.

I would be ok with PA for 2 years at 4.5 ish.. it is the 5 mill he is going to ask for that anoys me. He is a very good player and deserves the raise. He did well last year too...

I would rather see someone who will destroy people taking runs at JT an top line than Bailey.. just tough to find a guy like that who can produce. (I am thinking a Guerin type player.. I guess Shane Doan would fit that mold). Unless they add some toughness on the D-line. I just want someone other than Matt Martin able to stand up for these players.

Okposo, Bailey and Grabner will benefit from better players around them... even the kids we have up right now are showing it helps. If they don't do anything stupid like sign 4 washed up has beens at the end of camp. ...They need to be more consistent though without question.

I swore this was my last year I would hope for that miracle. He is done... and I think the Isles will do the right thing and get rid of him. They will try and get insurance to pick up tab... but either way I don't see him around any more. They gave him MORE than ample shot.

I just think that if we go into next year with a top-six of:

Moulson-Tavares-PA
Grabner-Nielsen-Okposo

then we are simply asking for the same result, and anyone who would be shocked at being a lottery team again would probably keep reaching for the electrified piece of cheese as well. Honestly, I'm a bit disappointed in one or two of those players, but have nothing against them. I like them all, but it's not a good mix for winning big games that matter. That much has been proven, I think. I believe at least three and possibly four players from the top-six should be replaced...either moved down to bottom-six roles, traded, or not re-signed.

INS is the ONLY way this team will ever be rid of DP... But as long as he can Rehab he will never be deemed broken enough where he cant ever play again.
