He could score 40 goals next season, and some fans still won't be happy.

"He's not physical enough." "He's always hurt." "He hasn't done anything in the playoffs yet."

he's been very good for them. certainly will get a good look in camp in next year, and could very easily have a spot on the team, especially if some vets don't return.

love his speed and work ethic. doesn't seem to have great finish yet, but he's just a kid. really look forward to seeing him develop. between wellwood, read, couturier, and schenn the flyers have a wealth of of youthful riches.

All trade bait for Stamkos and Nash.

Exactly. But even more immediate will be that he is just coming back from an injury and no one will take that into account. Just as no one ever took into account the amount of pretty severe injuries Carter played through, and came back EARLY from, during most of his playoff time.

People get a stupid idea in their head and they run with it.

they'd have to sweeten the pot in order to get our youth out of homer's clutches.

Stamkos is close but he has a little help. I guess I just subconsciously undervalue 30 goals. 30 puts you in the top 20 or 25 in the league in the category these days, which is obviously significant.
- OrangeBlack27

When you really the only true offensive threat on the team, and on a bad team. 30 goals is impressive.

Yep, totally agree.

There will be no context whatsoever if he comes back and doesn't play well.

Used to annoy me SO much. Especially the year he played with a separated shoulder during the playoffs. That's at injury that makes it painful to move, let alone try to play hockey.

I don't know, but this kind of stuff gets me so excited. These kids get on the radar at such a young age, and some do NOT disappoint. I still remember the first time I heard about this kid Lindros, this kid Crosby, this kid Stamkos, this kid Lemieux, this kid Tavares.

I love that about hockey.

I personally think it would be a smart thing to do. I really hope the fans expectations are reasonable for the situation.

and decent callups who can fill in like Harry Z, Holmstrom

speaking of, THN put out their annual prospect issue and list the Flyers 17th (up from 30th) and at B-. this factors in 21 and under NHLers even tho they are not listed in the top 10 prospects which makes sense because a team shouldn't be penalized in the rankings for having kids "graduate". The Flyers average draft rank is 30 (average position for their first pick since the 08 draft)

1) Gustafsson
2) Wellwood
3) Holmstrom
4) Lauridsen
5) Cousins
6) Testwuide
7) McGinn
8) Noebels
9) Akeson
10) Luukko

Cousins may have the biggest upside on the list. Kid is looking fantastic in the O, and I've heard some scouts say that if the draft was redone today he would have late first round potential.

Something to keep an eye on is the coburn and grossman pairing. I think they have trouble making it out of the zone cleanly when the puck is on their stick. They are great at seperating players from the puck. I hated the D pairings last night. Timonen and Carle together makes little sense. I realize it's a product of kubina and lilja coming back. For the playoffs id like to see the pairings look like this.

Carle-kubina
Coburn-timonen
Grossman-Gustafson

I think if it's rangers or bruins they should dress lilja ahead of gusty
