They haven't exactly given him a great supporting cast since he has been there.

Unless you count Carter for 5 months......

geno and sid have played with kennedy, max, dupuis, etc. for large portions of monstrous seasons. nash isn't anywhere close to sid/geno level, but it seems as though pundits and fans really think he could have that kind of effect.

Seriously. Is there a more overrated player in the league than Rick Nash? Don't understand how that happens to a 30-goal scorer on a bad team.

The only knock on him is his contract, IMO.

I said it yesterday and I'm going to say it today... Time to put Schenn, Briere, and Simmonds on a line and tell them to stay out until they score a goal...

I would like to change some things up, just to see how they work. I doubt we win the division at this point, or get home ice, so it's a good time to try new things... worse thing that could happen is you lose a couple games and fall to the 6th seed.

Not to mention Giroux and the other young players will get better each year.

Do you guys think when JVR comes back in the playoffs that he will get 4th line time until he gets up to speed, so he doesnt slow any other line down?

Hartnell-Giroux-Jagr
Read-Briere-Voracek
Schenn-Talbot-Simmonds
JVR-Couturier-Wellwood.... still a very good 4th line...

Honeslty, who in the League is close to Malkin and Crosby offensively? I'd like to see Nash play on a good team with a good playmaking Center.

I'm not going to say I'm over-reacting to last nights game, but it was an important game... It doesnt look very promising that we can get first in the division, or even home ice as NYR and Pitt keep winning...

Raise your hand if you thought before the season that the goaltending tandem of Scott Clemmenson and Jose Theodore would be good enough to get a team into the playoffs?

Yeah that's what I thought. Throw this loss aside, you guys are going to be fine, IMO you're the only team that poses a legit threat to the Pens.

games like last night happen. you see teams get dominated in shots but win almost every night. flyers were a little too cute in the first period (and probably beyond). not enough plays towards the net, imo--lots of extra passing. the timing of the loss sucks, but these things happen. you still took 6 of 8 points from fla throughout the year and are 7-2-1 in the last 10.

I personally think it would be a smart thing to do. I really hope the fans expectations are reasonable for the situation.

Ovechkin, Stamkos... I might even put Gaborik in there... but I agree with your point.

Stamkos is close but he has a little help. I guess I just subconsciously undervalue 30 goals. 30 puts you in the top 20 or 25 in the league in the category these days, which is obviously significant.

+1, can't expect van Platefoot to be in prime condition the second he gets back. It's not like there isn't talent on the third or fourth line he can work with in those limited minutes, either.

The thing that gets me the most is the missed shots from the open point... You really have to start hitting the net. My wife is tired of hearing me say "Juuust a bit outside." Whenever Jackson say trickles past...

Nash is also huge and has really turned himself into a responsible two-way forward. At $5 million/yr., he'd be underrated, IMO.

missing the net is going to happen. i'd rather shoot and miss the net on a good chance, than make an extra pass and have no attempt towards the net. did feel like the d missed the net from the point a lot last night, though.

He could score 40 goals next season, and some fans still won't be happy.

"He's not physical enough." "He's always hurt." "He hasn't done anything in the playoffs yet."

he's been very good for them. certainly will get a good look in camp in next year, and could very easily have a spot on the team, especially if some vets don't return.

love his speed and work ethic. doesn't seem to have great finish yet, but he's just a kid. really look forward to seeing him develop. between wellwood, read, couturier, and schenn the flyers have a wealth of of youthful riches.
