I think it was a good idea to bring in Dion... I think it was an absolutely retarded idea to give him the 'c' he doesn't deserve any leadership or control. I think he does what we all know he can do... gets 40+ pts a year and makes 1 big hit every 2-3 weeks... that's it.
Wilson was an idiot to give Dion the 'C' not to mention do it so quickly. Now wel'll have to trade him to take it away cause there's no way Dion won't be a bitter (frank) after they take it... and they better take it if they really want to turn things around. |

Glad they lost, just 8-9 more losses to go and were all good.
Also from that bad game I did notice that Bozak played very well. Back checked stuck on his man stopped a goal from happening and caused Kessels goal.
Good for him. - wolfos412
Big franking deal. He's the team's #1 centre, which is where one of the major issues starts.

HNIC's Eric Francis was on the Fan this morning suggesting it was Burke who decided to give Dion the "C", not Wilson.
They'd never take the "C" away from a player. This isn't the Ballard era, although it's damn close to feeling like it.

I'm going to throw this out there for everyone to ponder.....
I'm starting to think that Rogers through their mouthpiece (Sportsnet) is trying to drum up support to fire Burke
The past few days, the Sportsnet crew and the Fan590 crew have been all over Burke
Just an example below

Yea I was going to say...pretty sure Burke had a lot to do with it too. But as said, give him another year to prove himself under a better coach, maybe a better team if Burke makes a few needed moves and perhaps hell mature into a better captain in the next year/so. He *is* still kinda young for a defensive captain on a crappy team... |

I was just saying that being a #3 Center and stuck playing on #1 line he does well, isn't crumpling under pressure, not making gaffes etc |

You can't blame Bozak for the #1 center issue. The guy has performed well this year and has increased his point total every year he has been in the NHL. If anything hes the only Leaf player that has actually improved the last 3 years. |

At least if the pick is traded at the draft, we'll know our position and can get full value for it.
Not like last time when it was expected to be 12-15 and ended up being 2 - clarkysduster
unless the leafs are using that pick to pry malkin out of PIT, they shouldn't even be thinking about it. getzlaf and stall are/were apparently available. they are also closing in on 30, meaning, they're not getting any better, they've peaked. why not draft a young centerman instead? you can have all the kessels and nashs you like, but great NHL teams are built down the middle. the leafs have zero depth at the center and goaltending postions.

I can see Burke getting fired. When i saw the score this morning i got a gut feeling that Burke would be fired and Nonis would take over. Unless they already have someone else in mind. |

I don't understand that thinking though........ you fire Burke, and replace him with his right hand man Nonnis?? That would not change anything |

Burke is the one who wanted Dion, I think Wilson didn't really want him and just go back and look at the presser when it was announced Dion was going to be the Captain. Burke was basically sucking him off. |

He's back checking, sticking to guys, prevented a goal last night to keep the game tied, makes decent passes... I was just saying for being "Out of place" he doesn't really look that out of place... I mean sure 41 pts in 60 something games isn't #1 C numbers but it's nice seeing him improve every year considering he was just a older kid who signed out of college, no expectations from him. |

Yeah I know, Like i said thats only if they don't already have someone else in mind. Last time they didn't have a GM they made Cliff Fletcher it and we ended up with Jeff Finger.
I don't want to see him as the Interim GM again. |
