Lupul and Kulemin did that, no need to ask the players to roll over. And Burke or any GM would never say that in general, let alone in public. You won't build a cup contending team when they know it's ok to lose.

Let's break this down for you...

1) Ron Wilson had a poopty non-maintanable system in place when he arrived
2) The system (or lack thereof) blew up, as was expected, and ended with his termination after a gigantic losing streak that saw our team knocked out of playoff position
3) Carlyle was hired, and all those players that had gotten in good with Wilson, now had to start again trying to get into his good books
4) The team was struggling to try and implement the system right off the bat (as is expected when completely changing styles) and continued to lose
5) All playoff aspirations are gone now, and the team has realized that they are playing for the golf course right now

I agree that they should still be motivated to play their asses off and try and win a couple, but can you not understand why we are losing?

We have a better team than what is shown, the problem was just that they needed more time with Carlyle earlier.

All in all it isn't working out too badly, as Carlyle is now able to get a good feel for his team for next year, and on top of that we may have a chance at ending up with a lottery pick..

I understand Leaf fans are frustrated right now. It is hard not to be given the playoff drought, but dont make the mistake now of trying to ship out all the players who have been underacheiving for the past 3 months, in order to try and grasp at the last playoff spot next year.

Let the players play, and let the coach do his job. We are on the right track, just relax everyone.

This is late. But thank you. It's about time someone said something that has some well thought out points to it. I agree. (I know you and I do not necessarily agree on Phaneuf) but I agree with you totally here...

Gosh i hope we lose every game and get a lotto pick... That would be exiting, if we get a lotto pick were getting a franchise corner stone... Unless one of Dumba Murray Gally Grigs and Yaky is a flop of a pick... Which doesnt seem to be the case but you never know. If we dont get in the top 5 we probably will end up with Faska or Gaunce. While Gally is a really skilled player Faska may also be a # 1 center, and hes a bigger version of TJ Oshie in my opinion.

We have started a movement to push for ZERO attendance at the Maple Leafs final home game this year vs Tampa Bay. We as die hard, life long, Leaf fans have finally had enough and we want OUR say as to the product MLSE is shoving down our throats. We are upset with the way the team is being run and how the team has been playing. Not just this year... for years! At the moment we have a Facebook group (see below) and adding notes everywhere we can. We are emailing various news & sports sites. We do realize the fact that the game is already sold out via season ticket holders. That is not the issue. We cannot control or hurt the pocket book of MLSE so we want to get at them the only way we can and that is through the embarrassment and humiliation of having no one attending the final game. Put your ticket aside and lets show MLSE that we DO CARE what product they put on the ice!!!! Leafs Nation has had enough and now it is our time to have a say.
