And yet, Reimer is a #1 goalie?

I have a better one. That's like saying Adam French will make no sense in the near future.

First of all, Huddle is a Leafs guy, so his opinion will be biased.

Second, I would probably give the Leafs the edge in prospects but I am not knowledgeable enough about Montreal's system.

The bottom line is that neither prospect pool has any up and coming superstars. There may be 1 or 2 very good NHLers on either side... and that is the high end.

- GoneFullRetard

I'll defend Huddle since he's not around, the guy knows prospects, regardless of what team they are on. If anything I've ever seen biased from him it's style of play, not what team those players are on (has man crushes on big PWF's).

Are you agreeing with me or not?
- mr.peanut

If you think that Montreal and Toronto's futures are close to equal simply because they have the answer in goal.

Sure Toronto has WAY more B prospects than Montreal... but all it would take is for Montreal to hit one out of the ball park in the 3rd round to even that out. Or draft a sure thing this year in Yakopov or Grigorenko.

Give me your number, I'll call you right now.
- Fakepartofme

Please.

He's an average goaltender who benefited a lot from a strong defensive team playing for Jack Martin.

Look at how he's doing this year. He's average. The team isn't very good but he isn't helping.

Bounce back to what?
Average players?

- Fakepartofme

Reimer = flash in the pan

I have zero faith that Reimer will be anything significant and unfortunately in Toronto we need a goalie of significant quality.

Evgeny Nabokov's new one-year deal with the NYI is $2.75M. The deal does NOT include a No Move or No Trade clause.

they're the Leafs with a franchise goalie, a young stud dman and a higher draft pick.
- DoubleDown

Not for long.

PS... I would also rather have Gardiner than Subban all things, including demeanour, considered.

.. but you guys have Price and that is >>>> than any Maple leafs player.

the only hope for next year is for the leafs to, by some miracle, find it in them to:

- sign parise (ufa)
- trade for nash (this year's 1st + anything else)
- trade for dustin brown
- sign justin schultz out of wisconsin
- sign nabakov (ufa)

burke, this is your to do list. at least we'd come back next year stronger up the middle and stronger on the wings with defensive hope for the future.

keep kessel, gardiner - everyone else (in the big and small club) is available.

Price may be top 10. Maybe.
This lists misses Rinne, Halak and Luongo.

- Jayden

I left Halak, and Luongo out on purpose. Rinne I forgot.

Still. I think that Price on St. Louis, Vancouver and Nashville would be just as good if not better than those goalies.

According to experts, this is False. I do not consider Huddle as an expert
- senstroll

Show me your so called experts. Leafs are pretty high on every list I've seen. Huddle is as good as it gets for CHL evaluation.

I didn't say anything about the center position. I do agree that we need a top center. Grabovski isn't the solution. I would've traded him.

Phaneuf and Reimer will bounce back. I'm sure of that. Not every team can have an elite goaltender. I believe Lundqvist, Rinne and Quick are the only elite goaltenders left. Average goaltending will get you in the playoffs and maybe even win a championship. Ask the Hawks.

- thomas81

So the Leafs have the same talent level as the Hawks?

Never in a million years.

Suter should be given stocks in MLSE to come play in Toronto. They don't need Parise, nor will Parise sign with Toronto. I'll bet anything.

Miller? Thomas? Price? there are probably a few more.
- GoneFullRetard

Price is not elite. Miller is on the decline. Thomas isn't getting any younger. His game hasn't been really good in the last few weeks.

Debatable. Price would probably match Luongo's numbers indeed.
But Halak and Rinne have proven to be able to steal a lot of consecutive games by themselves, something Price has failed to do yet.

Not that you would ever admit that they're having success.

Having an AHL team win a championship is a big part of becoming a winning franchise.

- thomas81

Let me repeat it one more time for you:

The Hamilton Bulldogs won the Cup not long ago. Are the habs any better for it?

No.

Let's look at the top 3 scorers of the Marlies:

Mike Zigomanis, 31 years old, Career AHLer, 40 pts in almost 200 NHL games.
Ryan Hamilton, 27 years old, Career AHLer, 0 NHL games
Marcel Mueller, 24 years old, 3 NHL games, 0 points

The future, is indeed, (frank)ing bright.
