Did I hit a nerve? Please enlighten what could the Flames package to land Getzlaf or Duchene? It would probably take something along the lines of Iggy or Kipper plus Bartman and possibly a pick to get er done and from the Ducks and Avs perspective why would they do that? Why trade a young #1 center for a player winding down his career and an unproven prospect seems like a bad deal to me .

I brought up Getzlaf because he only has a yr left on his contract (as does Perry). And they have alot of older wingers(older then calgary), so Cammelleri actually have some value to them. It's not that far fetched.

It opens up the 2nd line for Baert next year. they have two many LW's
Getzlaf has played in cgy and for sutter before (and with iginla)
shows iginla that they are going to follow up on trying to get a center like they did with richards. Because if they don't trade deadline he could be a rental.

They can then consider signing Jokinen. But I think it would be better to not sign him and grab Gaustad. (Tanguay/getz/iggy, Baert/Stajan/GlenX,Horak/Gaustad/Jones, Desbiens/Bouma/Jackman)

Really I'm just pondering as I try to pretend that they will still pull it together and get another streak going this year.

All is not lost friends. I think with all these knockout games, the playoff bar can be lowered to 95pts. 6 1 1 is not unrealistic.

If not, I hope they go for re-signing Joker, keep Cammy (we really miss him now) and hope Stajan has finally found his stride. If he keeps this play up, he is definitely earning his contract.

Use the rest of cap space on D, hope Horak develops, and keep Sven up all yr.

Getzlaf is awesome, but id rather keep Cammy (use as platoon center) and trade for Brown...backlund/ramo/2nd/salary for brown +?

Right now, stajan is playing like a #1 center.

And you guys get to live the world of the New York Islanders... kind of like Bill Murray in Grounghog Day... always next year... or the year after...
