Cool. - Eklund
I was just talking to a friend of mine the other day too... and we were like... I wonder what the record is for the wests non-playoff teams versus the easts non-playoff teams.
And to my surprise you wrote a blog about it the very next day... thank you... saved me a lot of time. |

being that most west vs east games are played with back up goalies this is pointless. |

The title of this blog made me laugh. Never read it though as I don't waste time on science fiction. - scubasteve
Well then you wouldn't know that the east 7-13 teams (+Florida) are 68-44-16 head to head versus the west 7-13. |

Interesting, so the east doesn't use backups versus the west but the west does use backups versus the east? |

Oh god I just read the title of this Blog and was like Oh god no.
I don't think any team in the west in the 7-13th seed has lost 8-0 in a game though. I guess that what makes the east superior. - Leafsfan9329

Well ya... the west likes to save the good goalies for the strong teams in the west. |

So the East gained 152 points in those games (68*2 + 16) vs. the 7-13 teams in the West.
Can you check what the numbers were the other way around? By this I mean, the West teams vs. the East teams. Did the West gain more or less points? Many of those wins by the east could be OTL/SO wins so the numbers may not be as skewed as they look. |

West fans lose it, rush to reply!
Hook, line, sinker.
Of course the western teams in those positions are far superior to there eastern counterparts. This isnt hard to figure out, whether u were able to engage people in a debate or not.
Carolina, toronto, winnipeg?
Vs
San jose, la, colorado?!!

Ok I've read it now. Still don't agree. Most of these teams in the east don't face the travel schedule that the teams in the west do. That alone can account for the bias in wins of east vs west. Also, while I'll grant you there are some tough teams in the east, I don't think a good number of them could stand up to the grind of the physical play within the western divisions. |

Your logic is flawed....sorry but it is. It depends when the games were played, beginning middle end of the season. Were they meaningful games, as in did teams need the two points to get into the playoff picture. Were they during a long long road trip for a Western team which travels a lot more. Etc etc...
Most or at least half of the out of Conference games don't mean as much. The two points are still important, but not like an inter-conference game. |

The oilers beat chicago 9-2 and 7-1.
Put them in a series and edm doesnt get to 4.
Anyone can win on any given night in this league.

This might be informative if the 7-13 teams only played against each other, but as it is how have the 7-13 teams fared against the 1-6 teams in the other conference? |
