Hey Mr. 12th place. How's the weather down there?
- StayTunedMTC

I'm not too worried, actually. Sure this season is a bust, but we have a great future ahead. A full off season with BB and the hopeful signing of schultz will even increase our chances.

Even if you guys make the playoffs, it is not like you're actually going to make it out of the first round. Have fun with all of your first rounders.

Head to head records need to be thrown out the window.
These teams play each other once every couple years. I'd love to see a team like New Jersey or Carolina go to the West and face the same grueling schedule as teams in the West.

Top 10 teams by miles traveled this season:

1. LA: 55,591
2. Florida Panthers 52,751
3. Anaheim Ducks 50,296
4. Edmonton Oilers 50,006
5. Dallas Stars 49,622
6. Phoenix Coyotes 49,192
7. Calgary Flames 49,104
8. Colorado Avalanche 48,945
9. Vancouver Canucks 46,826
10. Winnipeg 44,627

8 are in the West, 2 in the East.

10 teams with the LEAST amount of travel this season:

New Jersey Devils 28,597
Toronto Maple Leafs 32,239
New York Islanders 32,410
Pittsburgh Penguins 33,439
Boston Bruins 33,770
Ottawa Senators 33,915
Philadelphia Flyers 34,193
Buffalo Sabres 35,911
New York Rangers 36,385
Washington Capitals 37,969
Carolina Hurricanes 38,114

ALL 10 are in the East.

EDIT: In the previous season, all the teams in the top 10 in miles traveled were in the West.

Next year or the future? As for next year, bobby will have a completely new role. He is being placed on a line with bonino and palmieri (the PBR line) and has actually seemed to found his niche. He has openly stated that he does not like to be in the shadow of Getz and Pears and wants to anchor his own line. So far this is working.

I hate this argument. Whoopdiedoo a team has to fly on a luxury jet a little longer than another team. I feel so bad. ANYONE could adapt to longer travel. Is it annoying? Of course. But the affects of it are WAY overstated.

Of course you would think so. Buffalo hardly does any traveling. I don't think it's the luxury jet part that affects the team. Going from time zone to time zone does have an affect. I've done my share of traveling and can say that jet lag is a female dog. And I don't have to play a game of hockey when I land either.

Have you ever flown on a plane before? It's exhausting. I'm not saying that for the arguments sake, but in all seriousness it is a huge hassle and completely wastes your energy for the day.

jet lag is flying to a different continent, not a 3 hour time difference

Wrong.

jet lag
Noun:
Extreme tiredness and other physical effects felt by a person after a long flight across time zones.

I go to Toronto or Montreal from Halifax and I need a day or 2 to adjust. If it throws me off I can imagine it does the same for hockey players too.

Really?? And u know this how?
U sound very naive.
Its funny how all the people IN the game talk about it being a factor.
But u somehow know travelling thousands of miles around the continent all year isnt a factor at all. Not to mention having to play a game of hockey afterwards.
Then often get back on a plane at 1am to fly sonewhere else.
Nah, doesnt sound tough at all

Side note; funny how winnipeg who actually has to play in the southeast, is still only 10th in miles travelled.

Did you stop reading half way through? You missed the part about time zones. I thought you would agree as it would give the perfect excuse as to why the Leafs always get destroyed when they play out West. Then again they get destroyed playing at home as well.

I've been about 10 flights that were 19-22 hours, so yes. It's not as bad as you're making it out to be. As long as you know how to handle it and prepare yourself. When it comes down to it, ANY team in the NHL can do the travel.

I guess the players are just lying when they talk about how it affects them.

EDIT: Where have you been traveling to? Australia 10 times?

I guess you're special. I know when I fly I always need a day or 2 to feel normal again. Usually I just get drunk the first night then sleep in the next day and it fixes it. Not sure NHL players have tried this yet.
