Yep. That was the game. That's some memory. Obviously, your answer has arrived three years later: for some good HB talk.

That's bad for the concessionaires.

I took that (and the mild bout of depression) as my cue to hang 'em up and let my son play. I played pick up hockey summer of 2009 and nothing since - except for the "Kids vs. Parents" game with my son's hockey team last year. Lappy was on my team. Fastest guy on the ice. Made fun of me for still being sore the following weekend.

Still crazy that was where the Flyers practiced - and where Dvorak's car was stolen.

still playing obviously. the flyers game tonight was a virtual carbon copy of my game from thursday night, including a ridiculous triple deflection that i actually got a piece of before it trickled over the line.

i'm often a bit grumpy on the way to the rink not feeling up for playing, but once i start putting the gear on my mood changes.

lappy rules.

flyers dominated. didn't have a lot of great chances. florida capitalized on one good chance and a total gift bounce off the stanchion. game over.

I hear that. The game always erased those feelings on the way to the rink. The price tag and schedule ended my playing days. I'm enjoying my son playing more than my own playing days.

He had his spring evaluation skate tonight and was thrilled that his best friend was selected to the same scrimmage team & defensive pairing as him. He said he didn't care about how he looked; he had fun and that's the important thing at his age.

Frustrating, but only at the fluky bounce/goal and the inability to finish. Flyers outworked the Panthers.

random thought: have there been any goals scored from center ice this year? (not counting EN)
- dillpx183

yes. Craig Anderson gave one up. Not sure if it happened in OT, but the goal was the game winner.

my kids aren't old enough yet. 26 months and 10 months. my little girl loves hockey though...at least so far. the boy doesn't have a clue yet. i hope they both want to play. i long for the day when i start teaching them.

That's awesome Hammar! My son is 5 but doesn't take much interest in watching but likes playing. Right now he's in baseball so it's kinda tough to find time to get him into a league. Also things are tight right now financially for us so I'm hoping this time next year he's playing ICE hockey. Anyone have any pointers for getting kids into ice hockey? I never played it organized only deck hockey and would love to give this gift to my boy. So if anyone has any pointers or advice for a new parent on leagues lessons equipment or anything I'm all ears! And good luck to you and yours hammarby! Long Live Hockey!

buy equipment at play it again sports. there's not many around anymore, but even if its a far ride for you, it's worth it for the savings. enroll your boy in a learn to skate/learn to play program and see where it goes from there. they have these programs at most rinks in the area. if you live within the city, your kid can play for free with snider hockey.

Crazy question but he's getting started late can I still hope to see him in an NHL uni one day? Don't worry I won't pressure the kid either. Right now even with the baseball I just get him to practice and emphasize having fun. Also I try to find ways to make it fun out in the yard but I think he's a chip off the old block and has that hockey blood. Oh I can't wait

Edit: Forgive me I forgot my manners too THanks for the advice!

Seconded. I'm going to Play It Again Sports in Marlton in the next few weeks to replace my son's hockey pants. I also hit HockeyGiant.com (the actual store, not the site) in Cherry Hill for sales.

Good stuff. It's great seeing them learn the game and appreciate it. It sucks, though, when they really like a player only to see them traded away or sign elsewhere. M4 loved Umberger. Briere and Timonen are his other two favorites. Briere is #1 while Timonen is the d-man he tries to emulate.

I just drove by there a week or so ago to make sure it was still open. The Washington Twp. one used to be the one closest to me, when I lived in Gloucester County. It closed several years ago.
