So would you rather Gomez at 7.3 over Briere at 6.5?

No I'm just making a point. but I can see it's a waste of time and I got things to do today.

I just dont see how you can defend Gomez but bash briere. As I said before, makes sense to want to spend the money elsewhere, but doesn't make sense to act like he isn't effective.

Scotty Hartnell was hanging with Kyle Wellwood a bit too much over the summer...

So a little off topic, but when Howson is Fired in the offseason and you are asked to step in a GM.....

What do you do to fix the franchise....?

See if the league would consider going to a 29 team format.

I'm not really defending Gomez it's uh I don't know the term for it but whatever. However Gomez does contribute in the postseason yet doesn't get credit for it. However Briere who is more of a scoring center gets away for not dominating in the scoring department but because he steps it up in the post season he gets a pass. I guess i see a double standard. Both guys imo deserve criticism but in all seriousness who the eff gave that contract to Gomez when he only hit 30 goals once in his career?

Problem is, with his lack of production, he is one of the factors why they won't be in the postseason.

All the Danny B hate lately....

For the last week, he's been solid. Just because he doesn't put the puck in the net doesn't mean he isn't doing his job. He's setting up plays, and for the most part, making good decision. The goals will come in 2 weeks

However, I will say that I'm purely addressing his slump. No, I don't think he's been worth the 6ish cap hit, but that doesn't mean I'm saying he's been worthless or a "bust". He's been far from each during his tenure as a Flyer. I do not consider his signing to be a "bad" one, but it hasn't been a steal either. Somewhere in the middle.

I am replying to my own post, so the original isnt long with my reply.... thanks crims and funmaster....

I would trade the First overall to the Caps for Colorado's first and thier first in 2012 and 2013. And I would take LA's first this year, unless they make the finals... Then I would try and get as much for Nash as possible before the draft.... something like 2 young high potential players and at least a first pick... Like Schenn, Bob, Read, and a first... nto saying flyers should do that, but that would be my asking price.

Briere got his contract after scoring 153 points in his previous 129 games with Buffalo.

Any sane person knew that the Flyers were likely going to have to put up with the same cap hit for less production as he got older. That was the price to pay for a top line center in free agency, for a team coming off of a historically terrible season.

We're now quite possibly at that declining stage, and now you're complaining about him?

He's not 29 years old anymore. Anyone expecting him to produce the same in his mid-30's as his late 20's is crazy.

You know... I wondered if Bryz's struggles had anything to do with the fact when he came over from phoenix he had new pads made, and then as soon as he got used to them, the Winter classic comes and another set of pads... And finally a new set comes, and all of a sudden he is better....

Something to this? Either with the pads or Bryz's mental perception of the pads?

I think he understands this and would just like a way out of the contract, not so much that it hasn't been worth it the whole time. I just think he's here to stay as he was partly what got this team back on their feet. Unless its a must, I don't see the flyers dumping now at the latter stages of his deal.

And if you want to get rid of him at the end of next-season, he becomes very attractive for a team with cap space and looking for experienced depth because his actual salary for his last 2 seasons is 3 and 2 million respectively.
