I don't like staged fights ether. If that happened on the second shift I would have loved it. I want the BS goons out of the league. I understand why it happened but it makes the league look like a blood sport. One Flyers fan here saying, "I didn't like it!"
- coffee junkie

I like a good scrap...but the staged stuff is dumb. I'd like to see any player engaging in a staged fight get tossed, immediately.

Bryzgalov wasn't criticized for not making saves where he had no chance. He was criticized for not making the routine stops, for the lack of consistency in his game. That had nothing to do with the defenseman. And every thing to do with Bryzgalov.

Nope he wasn't instrumental in helping the Devils win a Stanley cup or anything
- JoeRussomanno

He wasn't. He was a solid role player for a couple of Devils Stanley Cup teams, but he was never the straw that stirred the drink. If they didn;t have Gomez, I'm still very confident that the Devils still win those Stanley Cups.

Gomez has averaged a respectable 0.7 PPG in the playoffs in his career(99 points in 140 games). Briere averages 0.98(96 in 97 games). As a Flyer, Briere has 59 playoff points in 57 games (1.03PPG)

There were a lot of goals that he got blamed for that were not his fault. It wasn't universal, but there were plenty of those who decided that any puck that dented the twine was Bryzgalov's fault.

Depends on who was doing the criticism but he got criticised by fans and media for goals not exactly his fault. Bryzgalov like any goalie is going to give up bad goals. Yes he gave up bad goals but the Flyers had serious defensive woes and to act like that didn't contribute to his problem is wrong.
- JoeRussomanno

There's always going to be opinion given that most fans know are innacurate and unfair. It went deeper then giving up occasional bad goals like any Goalie. He was just plain bad for long stretches. And certainly the team defense at times contributed. But it wasn't the main and only reason. Bryzgalov's poor play stood on it's own merits most of the time.

those people are such a small minority that they're not even worth acknowledging. anybody w/ an informed opinion saw that bryz was hideous enuf w/o having to pile on and exaggerate in their analysis. thank heaven bryz salvaged himself and he deserves full marks for making what was obviously a difficult adjustment.

True, but do you, I or any other informed fan, blame a Goalie for goals that aren't his fault? Intelligent fans know the difference. The rest you just sweep out the door and ignore.

Perhaps among knowledgeable fans they are the minority...but there were a LOT of fans booing Bryzgalov when they lost in the shutout shootout, so by no means was it a tiny amount of fans.

There's a lot of fans that yell shoot all the time, and this guy sucks, and that guy sucks. The truth is the knowledgeable fans are probably the minority. As unpopular as that opinion may be.

The Philadelphia Flyers have a number 1 goalie. Who would have thunk it? Now we just have to learn how to respect him and make him feel wanted by the city.

Guys, I stuck in the heart of enemy territory for the week. I'm in Pittsburgh for training and this is brutal. My hotel is basically next to the Consol Center, and theres mutant Pens fans everywhere. I gave some people the Biz the last couple days, theyre not happy hahaha. Headed out to grab some food and from what I understand theyre arent any Philly freindly bars out here where I can watch the Flyers game. Im headed out to grab some grub( Primantis is disgusting ) GO Flyers

Or he can simply play like a #1 and earn it as he has been doing lately.

I dont think Bryzgalov had people putting burning bags of poop on his doorstep earlier this season.

My point is, knowledgeable or not, a lot of fans were unfair in their treatment of Bryzgalov.

Well Lilja, Talbot and Kubina look like they are playing tonight
