Yeah I am willing to take that risk. I mean Snow obviously throws random names in a hat and when he needs to pick a coach he reaches in and whoeer is picked is the new coach. Maybe we can convince to throw some legit NHL coaches in there

You need to re-read my post as well if you're going to comment on my "complaints". I'll put it in caps so you don't miss it: I NEVER SAID THE ISLES HAD A BAD '08 DRAFT. I said that the Isles did not have a bad draft. But Brooks commented on the Isles selecting Bailey #9 overall and how in his opinion it was a mistake. Based on what Bailey has done since he's been drafted and what others drafted after him have done, that's not such a far-fetched statement.

So I guess you never have a negative comment to throw around? If that's the case you're either drinking the Isles Kool-aid heavily or not watching enough of the games to draw an opinion one way or another.

- Jethro09

most people pointed out why your argument is flawed IE hingsight and most of the guys that are performing were passed up by most teams.

you did say, and i quote, "They also missed on Trivino, Toews, and Niemi in 2008.", which to the reader, implies negativity toward picking 3 guys that didnt pan out, which to the reader comes off as a spoiled attitude and quite frankly doesnt say much about what you know prospect development.

as for me "never having a negative comment" im pretty sure we both (and every other regular poster) know that is FAR from true....ive been pretty vocal about the isles trading pap and nabby, dropping the ball on NOT trading pap OR nabby, not bringing haley up....i think you get the point

As bad as it seems here, if the isles win the two games against the caps in regulation that they blew, they would be just 3 points out.
- Isles316

you mean 5 points out. we got points outta those 2 games, so there'd be only 1 more point to get from those games.

And this still has nothing to do with that Cappy said "coaching" is what the reason for JT's breakout season. more like JT's work ethic

Islanders coach Jack Capuano called it “playoff hockey.”

“You see the grit and determination and when that happens, I’m sure both coaches are proud of their guys – that they stepped up and they answered the bell and they accepted the challenge. It’s that time of year where those two teams could see each other in the playoffs again and they want to make a statement. It’s the way the game is played. Certain guys have certain roles on their hockey team and they did what they had to do.”

Matt Martin, who is not as offensively talented, and plays 3 minutes less per game has 7 goals. And we know who he's played with............Please explain.
- BringBackBalky

I am not going to say anything bad about Matt Martin.. I love the kid. He crashes the net is one reason he has 7 goals. It is also a reason he has been on a few power plays. He will take the beating in front to score dirty goals. As far as who he played with.. I looked at his 7 goals
Assists: PA and Pandolfo
Assists: PA
Assists: Eaton and Grabner
Assists: Bailey and grabner
Assists: Reasoner and Pando
Assists: Reasoner and staois
Assists: Wallace and Reasoner

I guess my point is.. other than really needing to get busier at work.. to assume he was just on the 4th line the whole time would be incorrect. He played with Grabner, Bailey and Pa for some of those goals. That and he is not affraid to go to the NET.. unlike.. COMEAU!!

i HATE the sugarcoating. (frank)ING HATE IT. its thinking like this that helps rationialize that maybe it wasnt such a terrible season. wrong! it was terrible. it was a step in the wrong direction.

the FACTS are they didnt win "2 games against the caps in regulation" and they arent 3 points out. the FACTS are they are 9 points out and battling to not finish in last place!

who cares about "what if" scenarios??? it didnt happen!! lets move forward and take the temperature of where we are right now, 14th place, 9 points out of the 8th spot, season over, battling for a top 3 spot in next years drafts. those are FACTS

Ok I got a big beef!! The Rangers Devils brawl is getting rave reviews from around the league and the NHL!! REally!! When the Islanders tore through the Penguins it was the most despicable thing ever in the NHL and everyone wanted the Islanders head. So what is the difference here?? They put all there goons out there brawled it up right after the puck dropped. We decided to wait a little and goon it up. NHL at times makes me sick saying it is fine for some teams to act like NEanthadals but rip into other teams. Someone please explain this to me??
- kasperrko

Cause you're talking 3 set fights 3 seconds into the game and comparing it to a great game that got outta control and had things that don't belong in the game happen (Gillies and Martin's blindside punch)

I know there are some that want set fights out of the game, I don't see a problem with them. Coaches seem to keep playing and starting these guys and seems the players like yelling at their teammates while its going on. So I don't really see the problem, other than some don't like fights

speaking of work ethic... Okposo is still driving me nuts with his lack of effort. He has all the talent in the world and he just stops OFTEN when out there on the ice. I just don't understand when u have a guy like JT on the team how u can't see the benefit of going full 100% on every shift. It just baffles me.

All right good points I love the fights I think it makes the game more exciting just was not happy how some praised that but drilled us. Maybe it got out of hand that night with us but still

I agree he did have a couple of great shifts.. it is just the ones where he stops and then starts skating again.. that anoys the heck out of me. He is the last guy in his zone 90% of the time when on the ice.

When an opposing coach comes into your building and submits a starting line up like New Jersey did Torts has to respond. You don't let a division rival come into your house and clown you. I have no issues with how that game started.

I could go on for a long time with all the reasons that differs from the game between the Isles/Pens, but I won't.
