IMO we go into next season with Hodgson and Ennis as our #1-2 with glaring holes at the 3-4 center spot. They move Roy at the draft and make a play for a top 2 center in order to role 3 scoring lines like the 1st two seasons after the lockout.

Problem is they lose out on that center.

I would love to have St.Louis on my team. The guy never stops working and skating.
Maybe Ennis will grow into a similar style player.
St. Louis didn't break out till he was 27 and ennis at 22 already has a 20 goal season. And is on pace for 20 goals if he played entire season.
It's possible he could have a similar career I think he is the most talented offensive player on the team...his size though

Roy does nothing for them as Duchene and O'Reilly are the clear future (why Stastny is available).

They've been there done that with Leopold too.

McClement is their 3rd center and is pretty solid.

They would get a 11-15 1st round pick which they don't have this year because of the Varlamov trade.

They need a new pairing to go with erik johnson and have admitted they might want Ellis in the off season to pair with him.. Leopold already played there nad was very comfortable there. Adam could fill in some of the holes they have on the wing because they only have 12 signed players and 40m in roster space for next year.

I would like to move him, but I wouldnt hate it if we didnt. We cant just give him away for nothing. Next year will be a contract year, which could pay dividends to the Sabres

You are almost going to have to make a Roy trade as part of an equation of trades, with Roy being A, the returning piece being B, which is then moved for the C.

To me, I think Foligno - Ennis - Stafford is the perfect 3rd line. Not because of their defensive potential, but because they cause nightmares for the opponents and their 3rd D pairings.
If the other team shifts the first pairing D to match that line, hello opportunities for the top 2 lines.

With that level of talent on the top 3 lines you'd be remissed to call them 1,2,3 not 1a,1b,1c, which should be the goal.

Having a 4th line that can play 8 to 10 minutes a game and that has people that can play on the kill is key.

IDK... you never know.. Players sometimes just need a better atmosphere and they improve. I didn't really see Regehr as the "take everyone under his wings" type player but he is one here.

I don't remember where I read that.. but it was just a day or two ago but I am certain that they want a new pairing to go with Erik Johnson and that Ellis is the best on the market and with their cap space they could easily bring Ellis in Numbers wise.

Does anyone think Pegula is going to completely surprise all of us and make huge moves in the off season?

I would love to see a swap of 5-6 players on this team.

I actually like the 2nd and 3rd lines a lot in that... plus you put Pommer and Leino back together and even Pommer and Hodge showed they finally were on the same page last night. that could be a really good line to have around Hodge.

I am not sold on Tropp being able to hold that spot for a long period of time. he could do it here and there but over time I don't think it'd work.

I almost think that is the place where a guy like Downie, Brown, type player would be better.
