They have 2 in Hodgson and Ennis.

They need a number 1 and they aren't growing on trees.

We still have 3 more years of Miller, and I doubt he's going anywhere, it just seems like a lot wrapped up in the back end. I agree that D is SUPER important, but if we don't have enough money left to help our forward crew get better, we'll still lose games 1-0.

2 more years of Miller and I don't see them dumping that kind of cash on a 34yr old netminder on the downside of his career.

Agreed but there isn't any available, or their salary is to high, or they're not good enough, or they only have a year left and then they're a UFA, or they're to old, or some other excuse we throw around.

I think depending on how the year finishes with LA and San Jose, we could pry one of their top guys away for Roy and picks. SJ particularly will be blown up, I think (pending anything short of a long playoff run). I can't believe it didn't happen to a further extent after last year. Kopitar / Pavelski? I don't think it's impossible if we were willing to part with a handful of our higher draft picks. Both teams are on their last straw with their current rosters, and luckily, not every management team is obsessed with their core.

You're right, my mistake on the term. I could see them resigning Miller for much less, but who knows what the G market will look like in 2 seasons.

In our first 43 games, we had 23 in which we scored 2 or less goals.
We are 23rd in NHL in scoring despite our recent success

We need a solid #2A center who can clip 50% on the dot.

In SJ it will be Big Joe or Patty that goes and the cost will be high.

If LA is moving Kopitar, I listen but the excuse will be he's a soft euro and people will want no part of him. Also a cap hit of 6.8mil. The cost will be super high for him. Roster player, high end prospect, 1st +

Stastny makes to much.

Getzlaf is a UFA after next season.

Not impossible, but it's impossibly hard to tell where the talent will lie in that amount of time. 2 years ago Steve Mason was the goalie of the future, now he looks like a total bum.

Leggio isn't an NHL goaltender and will be 30yrs old then.

Lieuwen and Knapp should be the duo in Rochester next year.

I wouldn't want any part of Statsny anyway, he seems too much like the kind of player we have now, and hasn't really done much this year, at least (on the second line, too). Kopitar may get the soft euro rep, but he piles on the points, and I think he'd be worth it. He's 6'3" 220-ish, and would be worth every ounce of Roy, a 1st, and any one of our higher (and shorter) end prospects.

Honestly, I think that payment from the Sabres would get serious consideration for any of those guys.

Of course not Getzlaf, wouldn't want him going into UFA status anyway.

They have to sign Knapp or lose him as he's a SR this year.

Lieuwen is a over age player that got drafted late do to car accident.

Those will be your goaltenders in Rochester next year IMO.

Yeah, size would be my only reservation on him. He's got a really nice cap hit, though, so I'd expect if they blow it up, they'd be more likely to move Thornton.

EDIT: on that note, time for lunch.

Ideally, I'd prefer 3 #2 centers with at least one enforcer on each line. Id be ok if we paired Foligno up with him.
