We need to keep it simple. Try to go for the fancy play all the time. It's so frustrating to see them give up decent shooting lanes to make impossible passes. - Pomegrant
Didn't drive the net at all too. |

oh yeah, and that would mean Sykora would not be playing top minutes anymore. |

just split up zach and kovy.
i know the love affair with Sykora and Elias... i know DeBoer and Lou probably feel great that they got Zach and Kovy working well on the same line.. i know they probably pat themselves on the back at Henrique's emergence.. and Larsson being able to play...
but the truth is, Sykora-Elias-Zubrus is dead. Parise-Kovy would be MORE LETHAL separate. Henrique is tired. Larsson is losing battles (behind the net before the 4th goal), and I don't think is playoff ready. If Tallinder is ready in time, i'd play him, and Fayne, over Larsson...
Yes, we can pat ourselves on the back for Poni-Josefson-Clarkson.. for Zidlicky.. DeBoer not sucking, etc.. but its time to snap out of the lull.. and a way to do that is SHAKE UP THE LINES. Its not going to hurt us. We have highly skilled players that aren't going to be anemic if they're on lines with different teammates. .. in case the coaching staff haven't noticed, they're not doing much with the current setup.
SHAKE IT UP YO
Parise-Henrique-Zubrus
Kovalchuk-Elias-Sykora
just for a different look.
we need Zajac back and get Sykora on the 4th line.
BUT ITS NOT GOING TO HAPPEN. they will not move him down. the guy is trying hard.. but i'm sorry, he slows down that line. |

We're still 6-4-1 in our last 11. Not bad. We certainly need to pick our game up, but it will be tough since this schedule is such a pain in the ass. I think we have to start evening out the playing times and need to start sitting down Boulton and Janssen. We need our legs for this stretch run into the playoffs.
Just a thought, but wee only have 2 two consecutive days off from March 1 to the end of the season. I see teams like Philly and NY have this too, so I assume this is the standard and I don't know why the NHL would overload the end of the season. If the players are tired I feel like longer breaks would be result in better play late in the season and less injuries for the playoffs... |

Parise and Henrique are in their respective lulls and Kovalchuk can't do it all himself....DeBoer is content on what he has, it seems. |

You can't play chase with the Rangers. Down a goal two minutes in put the Devils on their heels from the get-go. The Rangers are fine with keeping shots to the outside and just waiting for a transition breakout.
Saying the Elias line is dead is kind of strange considering they scored last night and that Sykora has 3 points in 2 games. But I still don't fully disagree, but more so because Parise needs to get going by himself. I think its more important for the Devils to find the right chemistry for him. |
