I'm serious. Vanek was never worth the money. Giving him that contract was not going to boost his abilities to that of a $7M dollar player. Darcy told Lowe that he would match any offer, so Lowe made a ridiculous offer that he thought no one in their right mind would match, and Darcy matched it. Neither GM truely felt Vanek was a $7M player.

That's why it's futile to now compare him to other $7M players. Except maybe Scott Gomez.
