Please

You don't think Hartnell has done something similar at the bottom of a pile? I would have been OK with a misconduct as stated above but lets not go overboard.

- canadianpenfan

Imagine if Any Flyer does that to your leading scorer it would have been a tsunami of tears.!

Double minor and ten minutes would suffice. The outcome was settled on the ice. Hartnel got a nice lump/abrasion on his face and scored the game winner. If the flyers had gotten a pp there maybe they score and win in regulation.

So thats the standard? Makes a lot of sense.

There are no wounds from an overtime loss after 11 straight wins my friend.

tremendous blob this morning, bill. lots of ground covered.

shame bryz didn't get a star. he was outstanding yesterday, especially in the 2nd period. i thought he had malkin stuffed, but he strangely lifted the bottom of his pad off the ice at the last second and puck slipped through.

hartnell's simply been amazing. sniper goals and all kinds of gritty play. i hate that kunitz drove his forearm into his head when he was already down after the scrum. that is pure (frank)ing bush league and i really hope the flyers exact a measure of revenge in their next rematch. anyway...his tying goal was great not just because of the shot, but he took it off his backhand, got it to his forehand and then snapped the shot under pressure. certainly not the kind of goal we've come to expect from him, but he's had quite of few of these "goal scorers goals" lately, i think we ought to rethink what kind of player he is and will be.

glad crosby stayed off the score sheet. and also loved that he helplessly tried to block hartnell's OT winner and was laying on the ice while 20,000 people cheered. a wonderful moment.

They need to have linesman that aren't scrawny little wimps and get some big former nhlers in there or something. Kunitz should have a huge target on his back next game. I Want VENGANCE!

I hear NBC was focusing way too hard on Crosby again yesterday (hearsay, I was at the game). It's a shame, there were far more involved players on both teams than he. I guess that's how sports are broadcast, though. They have to focus on "the guy".

After yesterday's game, the #HartnellDown count rests at a tremendous 300.

have you noticed that JJ feels the need to say "hartnell down" every time he falls now?

I'll put it this way, when Adams scored to make it 1-0, they showed Crosby on the bench celebrating. I get the angle and thought process. But, at the same time, you have a game with two of the top scorers in the NHL. Two 30+ goal power forwards. Two teams that feature a bevy of good players.

What really pissed me off what reading espn's recap lastnight, where they noted that the pens were "exhausted from a 3 games in 4 night stretch" They declined to mention that the flyers were also exhausted from a 3 games in 4 night stretch...

Whatever. I don't let people ruin good hockey games for me with their complaining. If people don't understand that bad reffing is the standard these days then they need to watch more hockey. It all evens out and even with it that was a great hockey game.

I saw the same thing and shook my head. ESPN only thought 1 team was playing.
- canadianpenfan

Only espn could turn a hard fought match between 2 exhausted evenly matched teams into a game where the flyers took advantage of the tired pens and threw dirty play and lucky breaks managed to pull off a rare win against god himself.

I really really hate espn, I wish cable had tsn as an option

Absolutely. It's not Crosby's choice to be the focus. He's not directing the broadcast of the game, or editing the pieces they show.

It's like people being upset at Bryzgalov for how much he was a focus of 24/7.

It does show the short sightedness of the NHL and it's partners. Perfect opportunity to showcase Malkin, Giroux and the other stars and they paid more attention to Crosby than anything else.

It's gonna make it that much sweeter when the Flyers spank them out of the playoffs and they won't have Sidney's Richard to drool all over.

ESPN is a (frank)ing joke. I read that too and it was dispicable. It actually pointed out how they played all those games on the road. Which is laughable seeing as they went from NYC, to Newark, to Philadelphia. I'm pretty sure the Flyers did more traveling going from Philly to Boston and then back to Philly. Just need to realize, the Flyers are not THAT team for ESPN or even the NHL. Who cares?

He's been out so long the NHL needs to put the face of the league on camera non-stop. I understand why they wanted to do all the Crosby love yesterday but like you said their were two teams out there playing a great game.

start of the 2nd period.

pierre: "edzo, have you ever seen a star player with as much passion for the game as crosby?"

It's a discredit to Sid, too. When he actually performs one of his tremendous feats, the excitement (or chagrin, in our case) is watered down because we've been hearing his praises sung without pause already. I suppose it shouldn't come as a surprise, though, that's just sports broadcasting.

Yeah it was torture but every league does it. With Malkin and Letang playing great for Pittsburgh they might talk them up on a national broadcast.
Crosby wasn't really a factor in the game at all.

Ok so he is a great player, but enough of the man crush love affair already, it's embarrassing.

My issue is, the NHL is pulling the "all the eggs in one basket" approach...that doesn't work unless the egg is Michael Jordan.

we discussed this yesterday. yes. he. is.

seriously, they could have talked about bryz's recent shutout streak and flyers record, or the addition of grosssman, or couturier and read's outstanding play. hartnell's mike bossy impressions. tons of stuff to talk about. from a flyers standpoint anyway.

the only thing that would make me happier is also beating ny, boston, and detroit on the way to the cup.
