Garth and Charles must love you X. How many drafts will it take for this team to be even decent? Why must we have a new building before Charles decides to be real NHL owner?
- ses111

New building or not, he will never be the owner you want him to be.... So stop waiting.

So Tavares gets knocked over after whistle in crease, and like usual okposo does nothing about it. Just (frank)ing sits there like a wuss. Tired of it.
- Isles316

I saw that too. Tho KO came to Streits defense later in the period.....strange...

If he hired a real GM and coach and demanded results that is all I'm looking for. Big payroll or not he would have my support. I'm not looking for the perfect owner. I just want someone who cares and gives an honest effort to put a good product on the ice.

Some fans are upset by that article. Wake the (frank) up. This organization is a joke and something needs to happen.

Larry does forget that the Rangers until this year were at top of payroll all the time - missed playoff 7 years in a row(almost 9 yrs as last two seasons they only made playoff on last games of season) and that Dubinsky & Hank are the two most tenured players - meaning the rags did wholesale player changes every few years with no success. Let's not mention the Gomez, Drury and Redden contracts.
Larry must be getting Alzheimers - his memory is crap. Easy to sit back and play armchair GM. Just like all of us on this site. Am not saying Wang & Snow are doing everything right - not by a longshot but since the Post doesn't even send a reporter to Isles home games(they just pick up the AP story), how much is the NY Post really in tune with this team?

Well, the bottom is the only consistency this team has had in a while.

That ain't gonna happen since most wouldn't want to have to deal with asking him for permission to do almost everything. real GM's like to like to know they have the freedom to build their kind of teams.

That was kind of his point....

"Islanders no longer matter" Wang doesn't run this team like a NHL club should be, like most of theother clubs do

The problem is the Rangers tried to add players they thought could help and did not just sit back and wait for the draft every year. The contacts were horrible but again they at least took some kind of action. I agree he was offbase with the Draft. The Post not sending someone to Isles games is the issue. The Isles owner does not care enough to demand better results why should the Post care?

Your right but this is Wang fault for starting the puppet regime in the first place.

Doesn't matter what the Rangers are doing. Brooks is right about everything besides Nielsen. Us fans are very in touch with this team, and agree with most everything he said.

Having a debate with a fellow Islander fan. Question is if we somehow win the lottery and have the #1 one pick what is best for the team? I am getting reemed for my answer. I said trade the pick to a bottom 2-3-4 pick team sacrifice "nail" get a couple of NHL ready or NHL players a top prospect, swap 1st rd picks and Draft a Top 5 Dman that this team really needs.

Trade the pick to LA for Dustin Brown and Slava Voynov...you can sweeten the deal by throwing in Okposo or deHaan...

Depends on what the return is if we trade it. It's easy to say trade it for a "quality top 6 forward or top 4 defenseman", but teams generally aren't going to move guys like that. I wouldn't move the pick unless it was well worth it. Unless someone really wants to move someone special for that pick, keep it and take Nail or Grigorenko. We need D bad but you take the best player available. I'd be OK with trading down a few spots and stockpiling some 2nd/3rd rounders, but it would also be tough to pass up the talent of Yakupov/Grigorenko.

Keep drafting
keep developing

We are heading in the right direction

But look at how they are developing? They have no true development coach. Bailey probably wasn't developed properly. Nino shouldn't have been here probably. I'm not an expert but what prospects have really excelled coming through Bridgeport? None. Hamonic played half a year down there. Big deal. Okposo,Nielson aren't what they should be.

The only guy that seems to have taken a jump in Bridgeport the last few years is David Ullstrom. And even he is probably a third line player at best.

I don't care about the payroll, but the cheap out in the front office, development staff and coaching is ridiculous as is the acceptance of losing.

The problem with drafting 18 year old kids is guys like Nino and Strome are too good for the CHL and not ready for the NHL.

I wish they would change the age limit for the AHL... it makes sense.

Maybe with the new CBA.

I agree with you. No issue with Nino here most of the year but around the trade deadline they had a chance to send him down and let him play the stretch drive and playoffs and that is my biggest issue with his handling.

Something Brooks said was right, if Nino didn't make the team out of camp, the Isles would have been below the cap floor. He has a $3,000,000 cap hit.

Great points. There is plenty Wang can do to run a real NHL team without having a high payroll. If I was Wang and with the building situation I would probably not have a high payroll either unless I had billions. The problem Wang has is he is not even doing the basic things to show he cares about having a winning team.

Larry is an old bag o' wind. Got banned by Tortorella 2 years ago in post game for asking one of many stupid questions..........and he's the biggest Ranger fan of 'em all.

How about the Mets coverage in the local papers???
Traditionally out of first place by double digits 3 months into season.
Crap attendance for a new stadium. #3 or 4 largest payroll in MLB. No playoffs for almost 10 years.

Isles are two games below .500 and WE don't matter?

Larry, GFY because YOU don't matter. Not as a sports colunmist or as someone with an impartial opinion.

Brooks, albeit a bit misinformed on some of what he wrote, is simply holding the Owner and GM accountable for being terrible for 5 straight years. That's all.
