It's infinite!

And I think the Ref was faking an injury last night just to try and throw Bryzgalov off his game. It's a conspiracy.

YEs and the Rangers scaled back Lundy's starts this year for a reason.
- JoeRussomanno

So you think thats why the Rags are better this year? Has nothing to do with their team defense?

Brodeur and Roy played over 60 games a lot during their careers and won stanley cups. If a goalie is able to handle that work load its not an issue.

Rest could be the excuse for any player not just a goalie.

There are different variables however the amount of starts is a big deal no matter how much people don't want to admit it.
- JoeRussomanno

I don't see as a big deal. I don't see it as a deal at all. I see it as a non factor.

I also think number of practices in a season is a factor. Please find how many practices those goalies that won with 60 games played vs those that did not.

You're putting words in my mouth. THey are doing that because they want to increase their playoff chances.
Edit: also now we are comparing Bryzgalov to the two greatest Goalies of at the very least last 30 years. Also when they did win cups with those many starts they were in different era's.

So if the Rags play bad defensively and Lundqvist only plays 55 games it will give them a better chance to win?

Now you're getting carried away. Obviously I'm not saying that at all. IF the team plays like poop forget it. You want to be firing on all cylinders. You guys are taking my words and twisting them into something I;m not saying.

My point is if Bryz plays 57 or 60 games the Flyers chances of winning a cup are exactly the same imo. I dont see how sitting three extra games gives them a better chance of winning come playoff time.

Obviously this is out of hand now. Basically you think it's critical to rest bryz and not over work him and I think he should get most of the remaining games. It's fine we disagree, I just don't think you can say without doubt if he plays more than x amount of games then he probably can't win a cup.

I'm not saying anything without a doubt, but I think the trend shows what increases and decreases chances.

I think in Bryz's case that he will be fine, but who knows? I didn't think we'd make it to the cup in 2010 either. I'm just excited to be at this point I the season finally.

Bryz

Games Played 57
or
Games Played 60

IMO, I think the chances the Flyers win the cup are exactly the same. I dont see how sitting three games improves their odds in the playoffs.

The problem I don't see how it's a trend. I think fatigue can definitely be an issue. But I don't think there is some magical 60 game mark that means anything. Every player is an individual and is different. I don't see any signs of fatigue in Bryzgalov. In fact I think he's getting stronger.

The second Islanders goal, scored 35 seconds later, was more concerning. That one was a flat out drop in defensive energy and focus as the most dangerous Islanders forward, John Tavares, got body and stick position on Coburn and Mark Streit (who also assisted on the Grabner goal) had an open lane to pinch in deep and pass the puck in front to Tavares.
- bmeltzer

It looked to me like Grossmann, for whatever reason, left his side to help out Coburn, leaving Tavares wide open on the back door to deposit his goal.

I am not consciously keeping count, but it's only the second decision by Grossmann that I could criticize. He does a lot more harm to his opponents than to his team. I do hope he re-signs here.
