I dont mind how Jackson handled the situation. He held out a camp a few days to show he wasnt happy about his contract. He posted huge numbers at WR and won big games for us while making 500k. I cant stand how NFL players always want to renegotiate thier contracts, but I can see Jacksons side... He sat there and watched his fellow team-mates get extension after extension... Players that havent been here as long, and werent as important to the team... If anyone was due a raise... he was... and he didnt get it. He only missed a few days of camp as a quite protest, and didnt make a big deal about it at all...(see TO). He deserves his money. I cant be mad with him...

That paragraph right there is what turns my stomach the most about the Now Fake League.

Not even a matter of likability. Bryz worked his ass off to correct his play. He wasn't playing poorly because he felt underpaid. Hell, he was probably playing poorly in part to live up to his salary.

Jackson played poorly because he was upset about his contract. I understand that he had concerns about getting hurt and missing his payday. That's why he could have purchased insurance to protect him from injury. Lot of athletes do that sort of thing now. Teams certainly insure contracts.

I really dont like What De Jack did either... I'm just saying I understand stand it, and I'm happy he got his payday and is still on the team. I really dont want to defend him all day, but there is a big difference between the 500k he was making and the 10 million similiar players were making... Who is going to insure a 500k contract for only 1 year?

+1

At the end of it, it comes across as a poor player mentality to slack off for a contract. A winner's mentality would be trying to put up even better numbers to show he's worth even more.

But that's just me. Either way, I think DeSean comes across as rather unlikable.

I cant stand the National Fellons League either, but you cant hold its players up with expectations set by hockey players... They are different beasts, and as far as contract disputes go D-Jack handled his like middle of the road.

20 years ago you'd never hear such a notion. If someone id plz forgive me but I didn't. Anyway this whole, I can't go out and play hard because I might not get my contract- is cowardice and undermines what football and all of sports is about.

I still don't understand why I can't hold up one set of human beings to the standard of another. Well I guess it does take more intestinal fortitude to play Ice hockey. I never lost teeth playing football but I did on the ice, so I guess that's it.

I think 95% of NFL players are unlikable. If D-jack wasnt 5 foot nuthin being run at by 6'5" juice heads I would say... yea play for your contract... But I cant fault a guy that sees these meat heads trying to take his head off in a contract year, where in terms of NFL player he is making minimum wage, and all he has to do is survive the season and he gets paid...

I would compair it to a team that needs 1 point to make the playoffs, has a tie in the last 5 minutes of the game, and just turtles up to make sure they get the point.... Or a fighter that is ahead on points in the final round, and just has to avoid getting knocked out to win the title....

The Phantoms are streaking, too; Michael Leighton is hotter than two rats (frank)ing in a wool sock. It would be nice to see them break the top-8, especially considering their abysmal season last year (and abundance of familiar faces that have cracked the Flyers lineup this season).
- BoomGoesTheCoburn

I am really glad to see Leighton playing well. Always good to have a solid tender in the A in case injury strikes.

The only thing that I can say that might give players their greedy attitude in NFL is no guarenteed contracts.

Grew up in Glenolden and now reside in lovely Wallingford. My family is from 19064. My cousin played lacrosse at Springfield.

I feel like I'm never escaping the area (decent problem to have, all things considered). Looking at apartments now, I'll probably land in Drexel Hill or Havertown. Only thing I can't stand is the traffic, it's rush hour from 11AM through 7PM seven days a week

Your analogies to a team or boxer competing to win are flawed. They are playing a certain way to win. Jackson played a certain way to get paid.

I might agree with that, but to be honest I really just don't like the sport. Never have, never will. As for the rest, there's reasoning behind his half-assed play, but I think it still comes across as cowardly and selfish.

And I'm sure to him, getting paid is a win. Think about it from D-Jacks point of view... It like holding a 10 million dollar winning lottery ticket, in the ghetto, with a bunch of thugs trying to take it from you... All you have to do is survive until the lottery office opens and you have your payday... Then no-one can take it from you and you can resume your normal life...

I'm not saying in respect to the team he did the right thing.. but it was the right thing for D-jack... I dont like it, but that is how things are done in the NFL.

Be nice to see Kubina come back tonight. Get healthy for the weekend, at least...

Tonight seems like a trap game. Can't look past it, need the points.

- Jsaquella

As others have said, "better not be a trap game this late in the season" and also I gotta think that wanting to maintain the streak Bryz is on should have them coming out hard.

Stand tall. Be Proud. You are the County named after the First State in American History. If you cant be the best, might as well be named after the best...

TECHNICALLY, he is in a county named after the river basin.

Yes and that just reinforces the notion he is just a selfish person. If that's the case any player on a deal that is near expiring or that they feel is short of their worth, should not perform to the best of their ability. What you are describing is a paradigm that has infected the NFL and imo made it an inferior product.

Agreed. I would like to see Bryz push for Boucher's record... He just needs like 140 more minutes... so 2 games, 1 period... Shut out NYI, then Boston, and 1 period of Pit... or the other way around...

they aren't guaranteed but they are insured in the event of injury. IF the contracts were guaranteed forget it. Even with guaranteed contracts that league still has Albert Haynesworths. Oh and I'm sorry If I had the talent of Desean Jackson and was getting 500k a year I'd be much happier with that than the 66k a year I was averaging risking my life everyday.

I have the NHL and MLB ahead of the rest of them. I would like to see more Lacrosse on TV. That's an awesome sport! I gotta admit though going from Hockey to Lacrosse is hard to watch because hockey flows a lot better. Oh and I luv Rugby anyone know what league is best and how to get it on my tele?
