No it doesn't.

ok i just read the rule and it doesn't quite go as far as to agree with me. it says if any player on another team does touch it or could touch it and doesn't. it just seems to me unfair that when their player misses it by a c-hair that's icing, but if he had just ever so slightly touched it there is no icing. why be punished for that? he made a legit attempt to keep the puck in, it was very close to his body, but just got passed him. it just seems like that team gets it both ways, if they keep the puck in they keep up the offensive pressure, if he just misses it's icing. i guess i just don't like the rule, there should be a little more leeway in those situations IMO

Did you read the complete rule? A lot of your complaints on the officiating come from not knowing and understanding the rules. The Islander player did not have a reasonable chance to stop that puck. That much is clear. It is icing by any standard.

i guess our opinions differ again. i thought he had a very reasonable chance of playing it. guess it's a matter of opinion. refs/linesmen agreed with you.

I don't think it's an issue of opinion. It was pretty clear cut.

I'm done here.

Clearly the team sagged a bunch once the streak ended (though they weren't playing fantastic up to the point of the goal either). You're right, it's better that sag happens now than in one of those games. Though if they had gotten to the Pittsburgh game with the streak it'd have been pretty cool

I have no doubt in my mind that the Pens would end the streak no matter what. The Pens just seem to bring out the best and the worst in the Flyers. I had the Flyers/Islanders game on my computer and the Pens/Rangers on TV. The Pens don't want to face us in the first round either.

i'm not really arguing with you, just making points. i don't feel that anything i said is false. also the rule says it's based on the opinion of the referees or linesmen, so it really is a matter of opinion. i thought their guy had a reasonable shot of playing the puck. it wasn't shot way over his head, it wasn't shot 20 feet to the side of him. it was within his reach. he tried to play it. he missed it. it's obviously interpretation and opinion as to how valid of a chance their player had to play the puck. i just feel like you're trying to write me off as an idiot when i have valid points.

quote from the rules posted on nhl.com

If, in the opinion of the Linesman, any player (other than the goalkeeper) of the opposing team is able to play the puck before it passes his goal line, but has not done so, play shall continue and the icing violation shall not be called

Ten straight wins for the Penguins. Pennsylvania hockey is really gearing up for the playoffs, eh?

By my count, two shootout wins in that streak. Hadn't thought of that, but it's a lot of wins to string together either way.

The team looked great for 50 minutes last night, but that goes to show how playing subpar for 10 minutes can really have a negative impact on a game.

I thought Lilja played like a monster last night.. I was very happy (and have been since he was put back into the lineup) with him yet again. I thought Gusty was on the opposite end of the spectrum. Struggled with the puck on his stick.. turned it over a few times, had a few bad reads, but it didnt prove too costly.

Coby was a monster over the first 2 periods, but I thought he struggled in the 3rd.

Bryz was great again last night.... had no chance on either goal. If the didnt suffer a disastrous 2 minute meltdown he would still be on that streak.

Anybody know where Wayne Simmonds went. After being white hot in February.. he has been practically invisible. 2 points, both assists over the past 11 games is ugly. He just hasnt been his typical effective self of late it seems.

Hartnell with yet another Stamkos like shot. Think we found our sniper haha.

Hell the top line in general looked about as dominant as they were early on this year. Great to see.

The rooks yet again played great. Rinaldo was extremely effective all night, Coots' d-game is amazing to watch.. Wellwood is insanely fast. Speaking of Wellwood, (dingo should be able to tell more), I wonder if he was over looked a bit because of who was on his team...

Another win by the Fly guys... Keep'em coming!
