Maybe I'm the only one to feel this way but I'm relieved that the shutout streak is over. We have tough teams to take on this weekend and I wouldn't want to weight of the streak on the shoulders of this team as we face the Bruins and Pens this weekend. Now the team can just focus on Hockey in General. It's not like we're not playing well, the entire team is, even wit the shortage of players.

sounds like another case of inconsistency in the rules to me. the puck wasn't shot over his head, he had a very reasonable chance of even keeping that puck in the zone. but had he been out at center and waved his stick at a puck 10 feet away from him, that nullifies the icing. i mean that puck missed him by inches.

I think it's a case of not knowing the rules. The Islander had little chance to get that puck. It was a hard wrap around. The Islander is throwing himself against the wall to try and stop it.

And New Jersey gets their 11th fake win of the season.

The Flyers have eight more real wins yet only lead them by two points.

Wotta great league!

I think they were very focused defensively, and have been for a while. Laviolette has made some changes that I've been looking for all year. And with the additions of Grosmann, it has made a difference. The Flyers gave up 2 goals. They'll win a lot of Hockey games only giving up two goals.

what changes did Lava make that you were looking for?

but that's not attempting to play the puck? like what difference does it make how reasonable of an opportunity he has to actually contact the puck, he still made an attempt to play the puck.

i could see it if that puck had been shot high off the glass and over his head, but not when it's within his reach

Clearly the team sagged a bunch once the streak ended (though they weren't playing fantastic up to the point of the goal either). You're right, it's better that sag happens now than in one of those games. Though if they had gotten to the Pittsburgh game with the streak it'd have been pretty cool

I really don't know how to explain it to you. It's a clear cut icing.

well doesn't the rule say if the opposing team makes an attempt to play the puck the icing is nullified? so why doesn't that one count? if it's a footnote interpretation type thing, that's different...

Not forechecking aggressively when there is no realisitic chance of getting on the puck, better to sit back and play the trap. They did it a lot this game. Also a less aggressive posture with the 3rd forward. Keeping the 3rd forward high for support defensively.

wide eyed funny faces. they asked him about the record, he originally asked what record? he then deflected it to a team record, good answers to that and talked well about the team. they asked him about slamming his stick and he closed his eyes and hmmmmmmm for a good 10 seconds before saying he didnt remember. when they brought it up angain he said he was too tired to remember. then ended talking about the team and 2 pts it 2pts

That stick slam was how many games ago? Whoever asked that question is a jackass! And is just trying to stir crap up. Incompetence at it's best.

I was just thinking when was that from? I remember 3 or 4 games ago when Simmonds had a turnover or something ... but tonight? I didn't see it.

bryz slammed his stick on the ice after the second goal. but its in the moment, jsut gave up 2 quick goals, its called emotion. i'd rather the goalie be pissed for letting a goal in then not care. just the media trying to make something out of nothing as usual

I didn't see that happen. But really, the same still applies. Stupid question from the drama queen media. I really can't stand them as a group.
