Question: Who would you rather have for $51 Million Dollars-- Desean Jackson if you are the Eagles or Bryz if you are the Flyers??
My vote (even before this amazing shutout streak) would be for Universe. - FlyersFirst
Not sure how anyone can compare the two:
DeSean's only getting $15 million guaranteed and can be cut
Bryz is guaranteed all $51 million spread over 9 seasons |

I'm not a fan of Jackson. He whined and cried about his contract and didn't play as hard as he could have. Bryzgalov struggled, but he also worked hard to correct his issues. - Jsaquella
I dont mind how Jackson handled the situation. He held out a camp a few days to show he wasnt happy about his contract. He posted huge numbers at WR and won big games for us while making 500k. I cant stand how NFL players always want to renegotiate thier contracts, but I can see Jacksons side... He sat there and watched his fellow team-mates get extension after extension... Players that havent been here as long, and werent as important to the team... If anyone was due a raise... he was... and he didnt get it. He only missed a few days of camp as a quite protest, and didnt make a big deal about it at all...(see TO). He deserves his money. I cant be mad with him... |

I was once chatting from some chick from Philly and I told her I live in Delaware... She said... Oh I live right outside Delaware County... I said... "No the State." She said.. "Oh. Where is that?" I ended the converstaion right there... |

What I don't like is how he loafed through the season. To me, all his 5 year deal tells me is that he will play hard for the first 4....maybe.

He took games off and didn't play hard for big chunks of the season. He even admitted as much. I see his side, too, but there's still a need to play hard to justify a renegotiation. You go out and give a half ass effort because you think you're underpaid, you give me no reason to want to renegotiate your deal. |

Yea, maybe he did take some games off, but he was trying to protect himself too. If he got hurt, he wouldnt have been paid. He should have got his contract the same time Vick got his. Then it wouldnt have been a problem. |

What happens next year, when he realizes that he's only got about $4mm guaranteed? Is he going to alligator arm a pass to avoid being hurt and losing out on his money?
Sorry. You feel underpaid? Then sit out. Don't half ass it on the field. |

Agreed there. Bryz is 1000x more likable. I was rooting for him when he was down (not just as a rabid Flyers fan wanting to win, but for him as a player).
DJax is fun (ala comeback mircale game), but certainly not a person that is likable. |

Not even a matter of likability. Bryz worked his ass off to correct his play. He wasn't playing poorly because he felt underpaid. Hell, he was probably playing poorly in part to live up to his salary.
Jackson played poorly because he was upset about his contract. I understand that he had concerns about getting hurt and missing his payday. That's why he could have purchased insurance to protect him from injury. Lot of athletes do that sort of thing now. Teams certainly insure contracts. |

Grew up in Glenolden and now reside in lovely Wallingford. My family is from 19064. My cousin played lacrosse at Springfield. |

I don't think it was Lavi just starting to emphasize Defense as much as it was the players realizing that now they MUST play defense. - RooNosHockey
