Edwards was a good goalie, too, but he looked about 3-foot-5 by time Poulin pulled the puck to the backhand. He made a perfect shot to the top shelf (would probably have been a goal even today), but Poulin even had room to stuff inside the post. So much open net!

The goaltending today is miles ahead of where it was in the 1980s, in terms of technique, equipment and the size of most goalies nowadays. A 5-foot-9 goalie like Edwards would never get a sniff of the NHL draft anymore, much less winning a Vezina as Edwards once did.

BTW, that sequence also goes to show that even a HHOF defenseman like Al MacInnis sometimes gets beaten badly -- hockey keeps you humble, for sure.

I will disagree. I'm 5'8 and and doing just fine, in the NHL. NHL12 that is....

I think in a 3-2 playoff game with 2 minutes left... you would be seeing Talbot-Coots
G-Read.

If one of those were in the box.. id be willing to bet Schenn would be the next to get the nod.

- jak521

Actually, I think Voracek would and then Wellwood if those guys were in the box.

Just bored I guess.
Look marriage isn't for everyone. It's an old world institution that I think over the next 100 years or so society will have to change the way it is perceived. I don't mean to highjack the thread either so that's the end of my input on the subject here.

I dont think so. It about bonding yourself to someone and promising to be thiers for the rest of your life. If your truely in love, then the bond you share is much more desirable then any lust you could feel that would cause you to want to cheat. I'm not saying mistakes dont happen, but if your truely in love, you dont go out looking for lust.

I look at women, but I would never cheat on my wife. My future is her future. Her pain is my pain. And I wouldnt do anything to hurt her, or our future together. Especially not for 30 minutes of grunting.

Wasnt Wellwood out on the PK in the last 5 minutes with Byrz's shutout on the line last game? If Lavi trusts him in that situation, I'm sure he would trust him in the playoffs....

A report later surfaced quoting two unidentified scouts expressing concern that Halladay’s velocity is down and his sharpness is off.

I don't know what 'report' it was, and obviously haven't read it, but if it focused the two scouts' comments, then Halladay should have no issue with it.

If the reporter gave it a Carchidian "the team is screwed" spin, that's a different story.

What happened to the days of getting Halladay's response and running a story containing both sides?

that's just it. Edwards is hunched so far over, his glove is practically touching the ice as Poulin gets closer. if Poulin has his head up i don't know why he just doesn't put it into the corner along the ice. Fantastic shot though, give him credit.

The Phillies have some big problems, but Halladay isn't one of them.

I just pull out my Conan the Barbarian special edition DVD and speak aloud how much I could watch it over and over consecutively until my eyes fall out, when she hints around to making me watch that puke again.

Yea, but I still reap the benefits of her getting all hot and bothered by "teen-aged" boys running around without shirts and spouting puke like "I am like a flower without the sun, I wither when your not around..." Crap... I just swoop in and finish the job, then when she cant move.... I stick in Star Wars, or have a Star Trek TNG marathon on netflix...

I don't know if it'll go away, I'll leave the philosophizing to the philozophizers. I do know a lot of people that want to get married don't want to be married. Such persons should probably assess what exactly it is they want before making a commitment. An ounce of prevention, etc.

I guess I'm lucky, my counterpart is more of a reader than anything, and has rather good taste in literature. She also makes an admirable effort to appreciate the things I like, so I try to share her interests. It's a great synergy. Hell, she's willingly become a Flyers fan for my sake, does it get any better than that?

I think there's the issue of big game pressure, but I don't doubt he'll give Wellwood a chance to see how he handles it.

Angry.

The gf has admitted several times she has gotten me angry just so I'd take it out on her between the sheets.

Mine did the same.

Her whole family are big Jets fans but when it was time to go to the game she gladly put on my Primeau jersey and cheered the Flyers on. I know shes more or less just pretending but either way its kind of nice.

Asks me once in a while about how the team is doing.

I've actually gotten her to make the complete conversion, from sportsless fan to Flyers fan. She listens on the radio, she comes over for games when I'm not working, she honest to God follows the team. It's kind of flattering, in all honesty, knowing she did that for me.

Need I say she's a keeper?
