Hamilton's numbers were good, but his team lost 12 games all season. Marincin had a terrific year last season and this year after he was traded picked up where he left off, and Martindale was a beneficiary of having a (frank)ing incredible line to play with. Reider seems to be the pack leader. Not saying he's the next superstar, but it's very promising to see a 4th rounder producing so well starting the season at 18 years old.

Definetly, but elite prospect?

That may be premature speculation. We'll see if he rips it up again next year.

This is the first time ever I have agreed with you. And now twice in one day. 40 point expectations aside, he could at least chip in something. He's a good defensive player, but even defensive players need to be able to chip in from time to time. Hopefully he bounces back next season.

well I'm not expert but Belanger haven't done much, winning face-off haven't help the Oilers improve in the standings, yes it mite have help some with PK(but he is not the only one that kills penalty's) but is not enough, look a Kile Broziak they both have the same job assignment, who you would rather have?

It's a good thing he was brought in to put points up...........
- Lahey

I'm sure the Oilers were expecting more then just winning face-off and his -13

We had Brodziak he couldn't figure it out here, we moved along. For every Brodziak there's been 4 or 5 Pouilots.

He's played quite well defensively. They probably would've liked 10-15 more points, but that's not what he was brought in to do.

We had Broziak and had the best 4th line at that time with Glencross and Stortini,I'm sure Lowe regrets now letting him go for nothing.....

I'm not sure that they are all that disappointed in his play. I'd suspect they are more disappointed about his attitude.

He could very well be dealt, but Lander not stealing a spot probably means he is still here next year.

I probably would too. The thing was they were giving him every chance to take that 4th line spot and he couldn't take it. If he did then you have to think that maybe they look at moving Belanger.

You know when Colorado traded a 1st and a 2nd for Varlamov, I laughed at them. I thought it was a horrible trade, and at the time said it had a high potential to backfire worse then the Kessel trade. I eat my words now: That avs team is in 8th, and though you can't necessarily trace it all to the trade, it may have lit a fire under their asses, not to mention getting them a young talented goalie.

It may be time to consider trading our 2013 pick for the right asset. Thoughts?

I don't think it hurt him to be honest.

I see him as a 3rd liner at best anyway, I think he did okay given the situation. I just have to think that in the AHL he probably would've gotten bottom 6 time anyway.

I don't think they are in 8th because of that trade. Varlamov hasn't exactly been that good and with JSG they probably are out of the picture by today.

WIth that being said, I'd have the 2012 pick available for the right asset. The question is who exactly is available?

I think a jittery, high-scoring game. 5-3 oilers.
Trade the pick to the leafs/whomever and pick up an asset, picking a dman at 5-7.

Honestly I think it's too early to say who we pick. Been around long enough to know that a lot can change in a couple months.
