how does beating the by far 30th place team make the 29th place team look like they could beat any team?
- DarcyTucker16

I couldn't make it through 1/2 the blog and I like the Oilers.

Agreed.

I have this fantasy where the Oilers win the draft lotto, and deal the 1st for something like the 3rd or 4th pick and a "right now" player. And then they get Forsberg AND find a way to fill a different roster hole.

I also have a fantasy involving Mila Kunis.

Back off you son of a female dog...

Which "right now" players come to mind? This idea has peaked my interest.

Faksa is a Landeskog clone, I'm more hoping we land him. Galchenyuk would be nice too. I'm just not sure I totally get the Forsberg hype.
- dragonslade

I would be digging on Galchenyuk. American born...less threat of him running off to the KHL. From what I understand he has a high compete level, and can play center or the wing. Definetly has the size to be a power forward.

Could have worded that better... What I mean is that I have seen him repeatedly pick up the puck and skate Damn hard to... uh... Circle around the perimeter. It's just a thing where there are little inefficiencies in his game that can be tightened up to make him an all around better player. It comes with being so young. He'll get it.
- BINGO!

I think you're talking about Mason Raymond there aren't you?

He seems more Hemsky type thing, sick hands and stuff like that. Size isn't everything, it's how you use it. But yeah running a Galchenyuk-Gagner-Paajarvi 2nd line would be pretty legit.

Need to think about teams that will draft high.

Montreal...I would ask for Subban and their 1st round pick. Montreal would be all over Yakupov if they could get a chance to draft him. Might be real interested in Grigorenko in the #2 spot too. Subban might be too high of a price to ask. Maybe not if the Oilers owned the #1 pick. Yakupov is suppose to be the clear top prospect.

Islanders...Maybe goaltender Andres Nilsson and a second asset plus their #1 pick. I'm not sure the Islanders make a deal, because they need D, not forwards. They will have their pick of D in the #3 - #5 draft spot.

Carolina...McBain and their 1st? Or maybe Ryan Murphy instead of McBain. I see Carolina, who will likely draft in #5 spot, as the most likely trade partner.

Minnie...Jonas Brodin is the prospect I think could fit Oilers best. But is Brodin and Minnie's first enough for the #1 or #2 overall pick? Not sure.

TO...Schenn and their 1st. I could see TO being very interested in swapping picks with Edmonton in the #2 spot because they'd be totally digging a big center like Grigorenko.

I'd do that for sure, not sure if Minny would. That'd likely give us Brodin and Faksa/Galchenyuk which would be awesome.

Be nice to Leafs fans. Now that they're out of the playoff mix, life is very sad there now.

Forsberg has less points than Magnus Paarvari did at the same age in Sweden. I wouldn't bet on him being the answer the Oilers need.

From what I understand of the draft, Yakupov is the clear #1...and then it is a log jam of prospects with very little to separate them with respect to quality level.

You could see Galchenyuk, Grigorenko, Faksa, Forsberg, Murray, Dumba, Trouba, Reinhart, Rielly, and Gaunce is almost any order after the #1 pick is made.

The latest NHL poll asks which player the voters think would have the most immediate impact in the NHL and 55% voter Yakupov. What is it that makes him special over others?

Columbus might take him if he's #1 in the final ranking, despite him being lost for the regular season.

Apparently this kid could be the highest drafted Muslim in NHL history.

I'd do the T.O. Trade then ship Schenn and that first for Fowler and the Duck's first. Or use the package from Toronto to bring in a higher end defenseman. Maybe use the schenn package and trade for Carlson/Alzner and whichever 1st WSH would give up.

and i think its more like edm fell asleep in the 3rd they only had 3 shots and Columbus had 9
- xXwagzXx

Being at the game I can tell you that the third period was more oilers, they missed a bunch of shots whereas Columbus only got shots from the perimeter

If I had to predict the draft top 10 (do all these teams still have their 1st round picks?) assuming no one makes deals...

#1 Columbus - Yakupov
#2 Edmonton - Ummm...Grigorenko, I guess. Makes me nervous.
#3 Montreal - Galchenyuk
#4 Islanders - Ryan Murray
#5 Carolina - Filip Forsberg
#6 Minnesota - Jacob Trouba
#7 Toronto - Radek Faksa
#8 Anaheim - Matt Dumba
#9 Tampa Bay - Morgan Rielly
#10 Winnipeg - Griffin Reinhart

If Schneider is for trade, absolutely they should. Tampa is screaming for a goalie.

The 29th team making fun of the 30th team seems a bit silly doesnt it. I mean I know the Oil arent that far off. They only need an entire NHL level Dcore and a Goalie but damn those forwards are nuts
