hmmmmm...maybe the fact that the line has a quality center who makes his wingers better may have something to do with it

It is always something with Vanek.
I am just done with him. Tired of watching him have the puck taken off of his stick open ice and along the boards the cross ice give aways in the attack zone even when he "is right" .
For me, its time for this team to go in another direction. A direction away from Vanek. - TerryPegs

they were not playing to win for the last 15 minutes, they were playing not to lose
a prevent D does not work in football and a defensive shell does not work in hockey - homiedclown
Agreed Homie and its maddening!
When will Lindy realize that type of game will not work with this group of players?
Ugh! |

I give him a pass
game winner vs the canes in ot
and shoot out game winner vs the sens

Pommers bad play has a lot to do with his line mates i would guess.. he can't do it all himself. vanek has been useless and roy likes to junk grab |

Ok I looked it up, here are the only times the Sabres have scored an insurance goal this season. And by that I mean a game that was tied to start the third, and then after taking the lead Buffalo added another goal before the end of regulation to salt the contest away. Empty netters not included:
10/27 vs Columbus: 2-2 in third, Sabres score with 6 minutes left to take a 3-2 lead, and then Pominville adds another goal to ice the game 4-2 with 2+ minutes remaining.
No you aren't reading that wrong, the Sabres have only added to a 1 goal third period lead ONCE this season. Talk about sitting back, Lindy has to go. - SabreHess
Well done sir. This just verify's my suspicion as well. Lindy does have to go.
Lindy is trying to fit square pegs into round holes with this group and is to stubborn to change or simply cant change! |

I am ready to turn the page too, and I have always been a fan. He simply doesn't justify his salary. You can win with one-dimensional players, but that one dimension had better include 40-50 goals.

the stat we don't have is the number of opportunities they couldn't bury to add that insurance goal...
methinks its a pretty high number |

Lindy was thoroughly outcoached last night. With 12 seconds left, he could have put any defenseman out there and he chose Weber, who has been abysmal all year.
The Sabres have practically no margin for error at this point if they want to catch Washington. They cannot afford braindead coaching decisions like that. |

imagine that, the when the player with the best shot moves to the other side and has a better view of the net, he produces better

Bet it's a high number every game. This team has had problems putting the puck in the net for a long time now. |

this group still gets pushed around too much...it's a tougher game, and this group finds it difficult get it done under those circumstances |

No but what is Ruffs fault is the "prevent defense" he has this group playing everytime they have a 1 goal lead in a game and failing at it.
Thats coaching!
Putting Mike Weber on the ice for the final seconds of a game you have a 1 goal lead in and are protecting for 2 points you are desperate for is Lindy Ruffs fault as well!
Sick of Lindy's ineptness at grasping the situation at hand and truly knowing his personnel.
Hell, I see Hodgson killing penalties last night . WTF is that about? That kid is a defensive liability , at least what I have seen from him so far. I know he needs more time but dont put him on the PK Lindy!! |

I think Stafford has been very good the last few games.
I also think Leino, Ehrhoff and Regehr have been fine. Roy has been skating hard and even throwing the body around a little, but his job (along with Vanek and Pommer) is to put points on the board. |
