In case anyone is interested (probably not, but I'd just be talking to myself on the Caps blog ):

Update, 11:50 a.m.: Backstrom reported feeling fine after the skate, according to a team spokesman.

Original post: Nicklas Backstrom, who has been sidelined since Jan. 7 with a concussion, skated at KCI this morning for about 20 minutes

Backstrom is skating relatively lightly with Green, Erskine and Halpern. Someone yelled, "Who the ?!@?! is that?". Nick cracked a smile.

yeah it was such a shame what happened to backstrom. he is right up there with the core group of young stars for the league to build around moving forward. hopefully he gets healthy

great to hear that for you guys. great classy player. wish he wasnt a capital but hope he has a full recovery
- stayinthefnnet

Yeah, if he were to come back with full health and they get in the playoffs, it could be an interesting post-season for the Caps after all.

yes haha i wouldnt mind seeing him take the playoffs off for selfish reasons, as if him and ov go on a tear that they definitely are capable of they can erase all of this years frustrations. however, for hockey and the man as a person's sake the earlier and healthier the better

The Lions could bring back Matt/Mike Millenbury and he could draft WR's in the next 5 1st rounds.

true. losing him next year could have set that franchise back another decade after theyve struggled so much to be both exciting and competitive again. still is just crazy to see.

Is that like a combination of 'head and shoulders' and 'far and away'?

Watched the Hawk game last night with a Chi fan. Asked him how he felt about his goaltending situation and he said "fine? but I think you should be more worried about the situation you have with the pens goalies" His buddy (flyer fan) then chimes in and and agrees that we should be worried about our goalies............ Apparently we have a goaltending situation.

Four SO in five games is quite impressive but yeah he is not even close to any of those guys. I hope he is peaking to early and gets lit in the playoffs.

In my money draft, Backstrom was my 2nd overall choice. He was helping. I wonder if my 9 matchup losing streak coincides with his injurys and the Sedins vanishing act.

he definitely has been playing well. he is a good goalie. i knew he wasnt going to stay that bad forever, but yes hopefully he is peaking. im sure his true level is ultimately somewhere in between. but god is it sickening to have to hear the amount of praise that is being heaped on him by the same fans calling for his head 2 weeks ago. i definitely hope he is getting this out of his system now and regresses come the postseason, especially since in all likelihood we are playing them first round
