I spoke with Ryan Smyth today and he told me he has indeed had talks with the Oilers and is confident he'll have a new deal. He didn't get into specifics, but I made a few calls and it sounds like a two-year deal is what they will agree to. Basically they are negotiating the dollars at this point. I get the sense that both sides will agree to a two-year deal.

Stupid. The thing those teams have is depth all around. Gagner is a fine second line center.

How bout some other elite teams like the Rangers, Bruins, Predators. Great defense and goaltending.

For Nsh its different a team with alot of grinders and depth all around with a hot goalie can go far in the playoffs, look at the Oilers in 06. The Oilers have a chance to be like Van Det Pitt, and get 2 really good Centers for 1 and 2 down the middle.

The thing I like is he is doing a lot more with this oppurtunity than Omark was.

Prv is actually working on his game and doing what his NHL coaches have asked for him most of the year.

Sure Omark went down and produced, but that wasn't what the coaches were looking for.

Its okay though i forgive you its all that teenage angst, id be angry too if i knew so little about hockey and tried to talk about it all the time lol

I would be happy to get him, but I wouldnt trade my arm and a leg for him. He has yet to prove he is all that and a bag of potato chips. I would love to get Lindback out of Nsh. Maybe Buns will be Mason for us next year.

If they do that Tambellini and Lowe should definitely be given their walking papers. At this point in his career Smyth should only be playing 3rd line minutes & PK/PP 2.5 mil a year is what he should be getting.

According to hockeydb he played last year for the Manitoba moose and put up 28 wins 2.26 gaa and a 0.926 save percentage in 53 games. Maybe not bishop type yet but maybe a second or third rounder gets him still?

While getting another top talent forward is sexy and all that it is time to focus on the team's weakest point...the back end.

I have heard that Edm has been said to have one of the best defensive prospect pool in the NHL. That is nice to hear. There is depth in the system, and talented depth at that, but from my understanding these are still mostly 3-4 guys with higher potential.

I am hoping for Murray if they stay @2nd...I hope for Reinhart if they trade down a handful of spots in a trade.
