If I had even one player on my team that wanted to throw the game for a higher pick, he'd never see the ice again for me this season and I'd deal him the second I could. I only want players who absolutely hate to lose. If losing is okay with you, then we won't get along in a competitive scenario.

Cloutier if you want a Landeskog clone from this draft, go back to his old team. According to his coach, Radek Faska is really comparable to him. Plus the fact that he's a bigger center gives some flexibility as to potentially rotating him and Gagner on the second line.

The more I hear about Forsberg the more I think he's overhyped.

Radek Faska would be a hella good pick. If we don't take a d-man he's the guy we take.

I hear Dumba's name often when people mention picking the "D" at the draft. Personally after watching him play....I wouldn't touch him......there are very few "small" defencman in the NHL.....and if he makes it.....he'll be one of them. And as everyone on the planet, except Tambellini and Lowe knows.....the Oilers need some size going forward and not just up front.

Murray might be 2 years away too. He didnt play much this year, and shutting down guys in Jr is good, but NHL a whole new level. Im not saying his bad, but he might take time. In the end if we get him, good he will help, but getting another number one center can too. Might be able to help sooner rather then later.

As far as I know he is playing one more year in Sweden, but who knows. I just watched the oilchange episode with him again and he seems eager to get to the NHL and that was filmed in Dec.

Edit: Unless he goes to play for Salavat Yulaev Ufa as they picked him 20th in the KHL draft

Forsberg IS overhyped, i really dont get it and he isnt particularly big, 6'1 175ish lbs? Ive been a big Faska fan and earlier in the season when we werent second last i was hoping we could draft him around 10 or so. And honestly i dont want Yakupov, apparently he is done for the season with a concussion, dont need any of that. Maybe if we do get the first we could trade it to Ottawa for zibinijad, cowen and first pick, we could throw in omark or something lol, wishful. Or to buffalo for enroth and their first, hoping we could still get faska that low, but i dunno about that.

Well, saying Yakupov "is done for the season" suggests it is long term. The season is technically over this weekend and from what I last heard, they expect him in the lineup in the playoffs.

As for your trade scenario with Ottawa, thats bordering Leaf fan territory.

Doesn't matter There is NO WAY the players intentionally lose

The players and coaches themselves don't care if Edmonton wants a better draft pick, especially those who are pending free agents. For them, this is a job, and they have to play for their next contract, or avoid being dumped in the minors. So another hot shot kid comes in and takes another spot of a veteran, these veterans will do all they can to prevent that from happening.

All guys who had career months/games to (frank) the leafs out of a better draft pick when it was already clear they weren't making the playoffs...never to be heard from again

Everybody on this team will land on their feet somewhere, weather it's still in Edmonton or elsewhere, with few exceptions. And..Yes.....they do want to put their best foot forward to display their talents for future consideration......but that "it's all about the Kids!" mentality around the team, all the time, has to be hard to listen to over and over....especially if you not even 30 yet! Once upon a time The fan base was pretty high on Jones and now nobody seems to give a sh*t if he plays at all......this is a guy that got 18 goals last season and 14 this season with little or no PP time and usually playing on the 3rd or 4th line. But all anybody seems to care about is "The Nuge.....or Hall etc....."

Lol well we will still wait and see about if he comes back or not. As for my trade scenario i realize it was ridiculous and even said so on my post which i think a leafs fan would be completely serious. Im probably one of the few people who know how an actual NHL trade works especially with first round picks. Im one of the few people a while back who was arguing that our first would not be enough for a top dman ie. Myers.

It is a (frank)ing rebuild. The team is supposed to suck. Give Renney a 1 year extension.

To me it looks like the Oilers are building a fantasy roster rather than building a Stanley Cup Team! Trade the pick wherever they end up for players and they will improve in the long run imo.
- saki19

I would think a fantasy roster and a stanley cup team would be the same thing, no?

I would trade our 1st overall for Zibenjad or however its spelled... I am not sure Smyth gets resigned... he did well for us this year but as Clouts stated he was rode too hard and does not have much left in the tank... If renney gets resigned it really would not bother me... if he does not once again no biggie... I do think he did have a good culture going just prior to the midway pt of this season... but losing and losing more will (frank) up everything which is why we are hearing that he lost the room and is tweeting what he is...
