Schenn has looked like he's starting to play with a bit more confidence under Carlyle. Players of his style need structure in their game. I really don't see how Gunnarsson is underrated in this league. Have we really seen anyone in the last decade whiff on as many one-timers as he has? That weak attempt at a breakout pass last night was just awful, and symptomatic of a player who generally lacks aggression of any kind.

honestly...the entire team sucks...imo...everyone gets a pass right now.

Give Carlyle some time to improve them, and Burke time to bring in better players.

may I add that you're not gonna win many scoring at a pace of 0.67 goals per game (last three)
- Dozzer

True but I don't think you can judge the team the rest of the way, they have given up. Also Lupul out hurts as well, although not having a replacement for him is a concern.

Are you blocking out the 1987-1988 Season? Because that team had 3 losing streaks all after January 1st. 6, 6, and 8 games.

Oh and I agree Phaneuf needs to be stripped of the C, He is showing absolutely no heart on the ice.

- Leafsfan9329

Even that team, as bad as it was, after those losing streaks put together a few wins, before continuining to lose......... and they still made the playoffs.

This team has been brutal for like 20 games now.

Take out the two Edmonton wins and the Habs win, and they'd have like a 16 game losing streak

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

This current group has hit new all time lows

yea I thought it was odd....you would swear at the game, then I would ask you a question...no response...then you would swear at the game moments later.

the way I see it...

Reimer is still young and very inexperienced. Hes had his confidence shot this year and his concussion didnt exactly help. Hes still able to be molded down the road...Gus, hes 28 and we've seen what he can/cant do. His days are done and is a little too late to try and mold. We get a solid goalie in the summer and slowly allow Reimer to improve, hoping he either becomes the number one guy in a year/two, or a great backup.

Phaneuf, as I said I agree...hes been one of worst defenders this year and although we dont hear him in the room or on the ice, he dosnt "seemingly" appear to be doing a great job to movitivate his group. Although, I feel as though its a tough job when your coach is always throwing guys under the bus, your team is missing a few key components and you have a young team like the Leafs do. Im giving him a pass this year by default, because the team sucks too much...and also hes still young as a captain/defender.

Schenn should start to blossom within the next year/two...and especially with a coach like Carlyle. We should really keep him unless we can move him for an upgrade somewhere else.

- noename09

Reimer has not been the same guy since the injury.. not even close.. slow in the crease.. reacts slow and seems to be a bit trailing the puck rather than moving with it

some very bad signs.. his reaction time has suffered.. thats bad news if he cant regain it.

burke needs to go find a starter for next year.. both gus and reims are backup tenders at this point

I pray every night that if the Sens make it they play the Cats in the first round. Please notice that I said IF. Nothing is set in stone so don't come in here and run your mouth like your a lock for the presidents trophy.

Hey cool it. You don't want to get this Panther fan riled up. He might go get the 2 other Panther fans so they can gang up on you!

I think Burke has to adjust his team building strategy. He has always talked talent on first 2 lines and grinders on last 2 line but I think he needs more skill on line 3. Your 3rd line has to be able to produce some kind of offense.

Tough night for Ashton on the penalty front, but I really liked his game last night...

Are the Leafs really this bad, or is it a aberration?? Sort of the opposite of what we saw this time last year?? Last year they were playing above their heads with the pressure off, and this year they are playing way below their heads with pressure on?? Just a thought.

that and they are learning new systems.. i am glad burke made the coaching change when he did.. it gives carlyle a chance to assess and to get the team familiar with the systems heading into next year

i also like how burke signed grabo shortly after the coaching change.. that tells me the new bench boss likes what he sees in grabo

the changes that will get made this offseason should be interesting

I honestly can't believe Reimer is even in the NHL right now. He won't find his game there.

Remember, until last season Reimer was barely projected to be a backup goalie and then he has a good run and bang.....#1 goalie of the future.

A guy like Reimer in my opinion might play good in stretches but needs to be a good backup before he can be a good starter. He should have been broken in like Schneider in Vancouver.

I don't know that 87-88 team was pretty lucky and sucky at the same time. Only reason they got into the playoffs was because the North Stars lost there final game and the Leafs actually managed to win there last one.

I think i felt more torment with that team then i have with this team over the last 4 years.

I wonder if the leafs will look at drafting one of these guys:

Alex Galchenyuk,
Mikhail Grigorenko,
Zemgus Girgensons

who are all centers.

or will they take another D man.

yeah he isnt NHL calibre right now at all. I honestly would like the leafs to move Reimer, keep Gus as the backup and go find a true starter.

I still think Reimer can be decent down the road if molded by a better goalie and given time to work out a few things...hes only 23...

Last Night the Leafs reverted back to the Wilson system especially on the PK i basically turned the game off after I watched 4 leafs allow Kopecky to skate in between them and stand in front of the net uncontested.

No, with that team we at least had Wendel crunching someone or pounding someone to keep us watching them

I think there are good pieces.

Kessel, Lupul, Bozak, Grabo and even Kulemin. I don't care how many goals Kulemin has, that guy still shows up every shift. If people are concerned about lack of scoring then he is a perfect 3rd liner.

MacArthur is hot and cold, he is the kind of guy you get at the deadline and hope he is hot the rest of the season. If we can get a 1st then trade him, and apparantly we could have. With that being said I would also be fine with him on the 3rd line because he is gritty and can help offensively.

Connolly, Lombardi, Crabb, Armstrong and Rosehill are all replaceable and at a much lower price.

Defence we are screwed with Komi until his contract is up. I think this is why Aulie moved and I don't think Schenn is going anywhere now. You have Holzer who is ready to come up? Expensive guy to sit in the press box every night.

You know, I noticed a few instances that the Leafs did that as well. Not only on the PK, but other times as well.
