For sure...and Burke's ridiculous plan of adding players that other teams are willing to let go of is clearly not working.

But adding a young, top prospect who just wants to bust his butt to make an impression can become infectious...and then you have a chance to start changing the attitude that sits in the air of the change room.

If you stuck a goalie like Halak or Price in net, nobody would be saying anything about our dmen right now.

We'd be in a playoff position too. In my opinion.

its so funny you think 28 is old.. its not.

look at some of the best goalies in the league.. brodeur, thomas, hell, even roloson prior to this year..

its one of those positions where guys in their 30s seem to thrive.

Just for clarity ...By people do you mean there families? Because I'm down with that ...those people are not hard enough on those guys.

The problem is that it is Toronto also.

Lots of players don't want to deal with that pressure.

Harding the UFA goalie apparantly has already said he has no interest in that type of atmosphere.

Myself, I figured he would like the chance to be a #1.

Big problem is that when players finally come here, they don't want to leave.

The problem with them not wanting to leave - is the expectation of them doing something for their new teams - cant hide as easily from a team demanding results but its easier to blend in when noone expects anything from the Leafs

Although I dont disagree...which like we said isnt fair to either goalie...however there have been far too many goals scored on Gus that no defender in the world could have helped him out with.

Lombardi was in game shape immediately.

He started the season nicely, but crap players are crap players, eventually the crap rises to the top in Toronto.

But Lombardi showed no signs of concussion issues.

Reimer and the concussion argument have no merit in my opinion. He was never a high rated prospect. He played well last year for what was it, 6 weeks, but so have many other goalies who are still backups.

In Toronto though, like Ron Wilson said, we build a statue.

So are we all in agreement?

Sniff around and see what it'll cost to get Schneider out of Vanpoopty. If it's too much then sign Biron for a couple of years and hope he and Reimer learn to pray/play together.

There's a reason Reimer wasn't high on our depth chart and would have never gotten a shot unless Giguere and the monster had not gotten injured.

I think Reimer has potential, and shouldnt be given up on because of his age/experience so far...and truly think that behind a legit starter he could become a good starter himself down the road, or a great backup. Eitehr way, this team needs a starter, more than a centerman.
