Good point, switching them back and forth is what got us into this mess.
Might as well go with it. - leafs93

they both suck...I agree...but
Reimer 23 >>> Gus 28
...behind a legit goalie, we have seen Reimer has the fundamentals to be good, just needs time to improve/develop his game more. And if not, we atleast bring up Scrivens/Rynnas...but either way, you take a risk on developing Reimer as your backup hopeing one day he becomes good enough to play as a starter, and either he fails and stays as a steady backup, or fails completely and gets moved back down.
We cant keep both, and Id say it would be wiser to move the older guy whos struggle rather than the younger guy. Gus cant play as a backup, and this team needs a legit starter. Which neither of our current goalies can fulfill. - noename09
I agreed with almost everything you said. Reimer as backup, get a true #1.
Sign Gus and then trade him for something, don't lose him for nothing.
However, right now Gus >>> Reimer.
If we were still in a playoff position, Reimer wouldn't be seeing the light of day.

Sniff around and see what it'll cost to get Schneider out of Vanpoopty. If it's too much then sign Biron for a couple of years and hope he and Reimer learn to pray/play together. |

I think Manning will be an excellent backup for Tebow.
Kind of like the Cat and Cujo when they were teammates for a short while.
Oh man, to have that problem again of two #1 goalies at one time.

its so funny you think 28 is old.. its not.
look at some of the best goalies in the league.. brodeur, thomas, hell, even roloson prior to this year..
its one of those positions where guys in their 30s seem to thrive.

Do you think it would take more to land Schneider or Halak?
I'd prefer Halak if we have to throw in a little something something extra.

Elway and God have different plans for Tebow. I wonder who will win that battle?
I'd be very happy to settle for 1 #1, let alone two. |

I'm actually relatively pro-Gus.
I think it's terrible how he was thrown under the bus earlier in the season, I don't think he's ever going to be an NHL #1 but I think he can be a capable #2.
As with many things, I think Leafs fans have been a bit too bi-polar when it comes to Gustavsson. - Mr_Clean

This season is on the verge of turning into EXACTLY what I'd hoped for.
- Said all along I had no interest in making the playoffs so we could watch 4 extra games....no longer a factor
- Wanted to miss the playoffs so Wilson would be replaced...done
- If they were going to miss the playoffs; it would be of lottery proportions...still to be determined, but looking likely
For once, a Leafs season that has provided results! |

I don't trust Halak ....he was a streaky guy in Mtl and he had a bad start in StL ...now he looks like da bomb again with Hitchc0ck.
Schneider is bigger and has had a nice progression. I think he might fit Allaire's magic formula a little better too.
Either of those guys probably costs a good young player and a young g'tender? |

If we didn't burn our callups, I would have honestly loved to have seen Colborne and Kadri come up for the remainder of the year.
Then go with the following lines and see just exactly what we have in this organization:
Lupul-Colborne-Kessel
Kadri-Grabovski-Frattin
Kulemin-Bozak-MacArthur
4th line who cares!
Too bad Lupul hurt right now though.

ok ok....let me rephrase...cause I was just kidding about the 28 years old being old thing...my point isnt that hes old and done with, my point is, if were going to stick with one of the two as a backup and get a legit starter...then Reimer, who is younger, would make more sense.
I dont think either can start next year as starters, and I think that both would need time to develop their skills to maybe be a starter again (i dont actually think Gus can, but who knows) and they would need to do this behind a legit goalie because I dont think we should gamble on them as starters again.
WITH THAT BEING SAID....if the plan is to grab a legit goalie, then Gus is gone. He dosnt want to be a backup, he only starts to play better/well when he plays longer stretches and isnt good enough (imo), but even then isnt good enough.

When you create a culture of losing - players lose hope and will want out and no one will want to come there - not a good game plan to keep losing year after year

The problem is that it is Toronto also.
Lots of players don't want to deal with that pressure.
Harding the UFA goalie apparantly has already said he has no interest in that type of atmosphere.
Myself, I figured he would like the chance to be a #1.
Big problem is that when players finally come here, they don't want to leave.
Kaberle, Kubina, Tucker, Sundin and McCabe all say hi.

Why arent people harder on the 6 Dmen in front of GUS? The problem of letting goals in needs to be evaluated with the dmen that play in front of him |

Totally agree.
Get rid of the garbage veterans that don't give a poop anymore. Cut them, waive them, buy them out, have them killed.
Connolly, Lombardi, Armstrong... i'm looking at you. |
