thank god...and believe you me i will gladly bite my tongue about him if he excels with someone else...but hes raycroft/toskala 2.0...and how are they doing. - noename09
toskala is horrid lol.. and he only ever did well in san jose when they were really good so i dont think he was really ever that good
raycroft is still tied for most wins in a season by a leafs netminder.. it wasnt him that shat the bed that year.. it was aubin. |

Slim pickins' but not terrible compared to some years I suppose... Do you think one of Vokoun or Nabokov might sign with Toronto?.. Would you be willing to overpay to make it happen?
Otherwise, Chris Mason might be a nice pickup. Not a great goalie but plays solid with a solid D in front and (I think) has a fairly good reputation in the way veteran leadership qualities.
Wonder if Harding makes it to UFA?... - Mr_Clean
wonder if Biron ever wants to be a starter again.....his numbers are solid in NY. |

He is to blame.
His admitted building plan is from the net out. He started with dmen and skipped the net part completely. - leafs93
That's what I think too. That and sticking by Ron Wilson.
I appreciate his loyalty, but loyalty has its costs as well... If the Leafs don't make the playoffs next year, I'd have to think BB will be standing on VERY shaky ground. |

If I were Gus, I would sign with either:
CBJ
EDM
TOR
NYI
TB
NJ
CHI
Best chances to get a shot as a starter - mfreedman
brodeur resigns in nj and other than chicago, what an awful list of defensively horrible teams. |

he has 3 or 4 shutouts this year..
his stats this year are pretty damn good considering the defensive system that has been in front of him all season
reimer isnt even tracking the puck now.. he isnt reacting and almost seems lost when watching the play.. thats a bad bad sign for a goalie.. its one thing if you arent fast rnough.. thats conditioning.. but if you arent even tracking the puck well there is something severely wrong. - Dozzer
frankly, I dont care to keep either...but atleast with Reimer and his age/experience level, theres still plently of time to work on him and develop him while playing behind a legit starter. Gus cant be a legit backup, we've gone over this...and hes not capable of being a legit starter. He dosnt have the head, and costs us FAR too many goals at bad times.
Who the hell cares if you can make highlight reel saves, when the very next shot from 60 feet away goes in. He lets in goals at the worst times and cant be relied upon to play a full 60min game. Taking ANOTHER chance on him again is crazy.
Youre crazy.

You make a good point... Though then again the Rangers are a pretty solid team in their own end from what I've seen, so perhaps they make him look better than he actually is?
It'd be worth a shot, though honestly I'd rather have Biron as a 1B than as a 1A-type goalie. |

several haven't even proved themselves in the ahl....kadri is a ghost, colborne is horribly inconsistent with 5 or 6 goals in the last 40 games.
our prospect pool, although stronger, is nowhere near as nhl ready as people beleive. - Barx
They wont be any worse then a few roster players that are currently with the Leafs and they would be a lot cheaper on the cap. |

considering his new bosses own the television station that lose out on huge amounts of advertising income from leaf playoff games i think you may be right.
however, he will have a grace period for a year.. if they miss again next year i bet he is given one more season to right the ship... so basically finish his contract and if the leafs arent showing serious improvement by then.. it might be bye bye time
i dont think it should be.. but there is simply too much money on the line for the new ownership

Media is talking about Gus possibly being one of the more sought after UFA goalies this offseason.
He is one of the younger ones available and his numbers are not that bad.
Media also saying lots of other teams believe the Allaire system is his biggest problem and getting him in a different setting could turn him around. - leafs93
Possible outcome ....Gus lands in NY to back up the King. Allaire's brother is the goalie coach there as well.
...and Biron, trained in the ancient art of Allaire, signs in TDot to work with Allaire and Reimer.
Maybe? |

First there was Tebowing, below is a picture of Reiming. He does this after every goal he lets in.

its okay young pup, you dont have the experience to understand yet
i just think determining value on any player on the leafs whose job was to shut the opposition down (stay at home D, PKers, goaltenders) isjust unfair.. wilson's high octane offensive structure just made all these guys look bad. |

His numbers are solid because he is in NY - put him in net for Toronto and his numbers would not be anywhere what they are for the 1st place Eastern Conference team |

About Wilson, I think when it is said and done people will have a different outlook on the job he did in Toronto.
Without a #1 goalie he did a pretty good job of having the guys play entertaining hockey at least and sit in a playoff spot for most of this season.
Either way, I think he did the best he could with the players he had.
Can't blame him for the juggling act in net. Burke should have landed him a true #1.

after next season, sure, throw the youth into the fire
....as awful as it sounds we are stuck with connolly, lombardi and armstrong for another season...and a couple more for komisarek.

thanks tips....I'm just saying, he would definitely be an improvement over the mess in the leaf nets this year. |

Was at an airport bar last night watching the game - caught game action here and there - but do the Leafs just simply look disinterested?
I would look at trading Kessel before his contract expires while his value is still perceived to be high |

Very possible. I think he is MUCH more athletic than Reimer, but not sure if he will ever get over the bad goal thing.
I really think the one he let in vs New Jersey in overtime was the loss that really set this team back big time and put them in their current funk. |

Komi yes since he has a NMC.
The others you mentioned can be sent to the minors.
If Parise is a possibility, I expect 1 of them to be with the Marlies so that contract can happen.

Tough to argue with that. Its unfortunate that guys like that are blocking our younger players. But one can be hopeful some space opens up. One player I want to see is Brad Ross. |
