People have been pretty quiet about Burke throughout this whole collapse, from what I've seen (not that I've been around much admittedly).

At what point does the blame for the failure to make the playoffs come to rest on his head?

- Mr_Clean

He is to blame.

His admitted building plan is from the net out. He started with dmen and skipped the net part completely.

you young guys dont really have a concept of old

28 is not old

look at last years cup winning con smyth winner

38 years old.

didnt become a starter til he was 32

stop throwing away assets early.

- Dozzer

he's a ufa....would you resign with toronto if you were gustavsson?

On the penalty kill last night, almost looked like he was hoping the shots from the point would hit him as he stood frozen in his crouch position.

I've watched guys like Carey Price and they are constantly searching trying to find where that point shot is coming from.

In my opinion for next season, neither one of these 2 should be the #1 starter.

If Reimer is going to be that great, then he can prove himself the same way Halak did in MTL and Schneider did in VAN and that is as a backup first.

- leafs93

move reimer to the marlies.. move one of the goali prospects down there in a trade of some sort.. sign someone to be a starter or a 1a/1b tandem with gustavsson.

thats what burke should be doing.

hell carlyle himself said he was told gus was the better goalie when he got here.. and i am going to go out on a limb and say that it was allaire who told him that.

Gotta be Hitch, taking over after season has already started and now battling for 1st overall. No brainer.

MacLean though obviously 2nd place, great job by him.

- leafs93

Yeah, obviously Hitchcock has orchestrated a fantastic turnaround, the fact that Brian frickin Elliot has a 1.69 GAA or whatever it is is a testament to the system he's implemented!

I certainly don't expect MacLean to earn that particular recognition, but as you say if isn't at least nominated (should be 2nd place) it would be a travesty imo

Media is talking about Gus possibly being one of the more sought after UFA goalies this offseason.

He is one of the younger ones available and his numbers are not that bad.

Media also saying lots of other teams believe the Allaire system is his biggest problem and getting him in a different setting could turn him around.

Reimer is so tight right now it's scary. As a former goalie coach I can tell he is stiff as a board and forcing his movements. Somehow he needs to make a huge save and win a game before the end of the season. He can't go in to the off season with nothing but an .850 save percentage over his last 10 games to think about.
- Rang

what was it burke said when he signed reimer?

oh yeah, he told him not to be steve penny or jim carey... and if he didnt know who they were to look them up...

hopefully it's the sophmore slump... but i don't know, there aren't many signs pointing to him not being one of those guys.

Slim pickins' but not terrible compared to some years I suppose... Do you think one of Vokoun or Nabokov might sign with Toronto?.. Would you be willing to overpay to make it happen?

Otherwise, Chris Mason might be a nice pickup. Not a great goalie but plays solid with a solid D in front and (I think) has a fairly good reputation in the way veteran leadership qualities.

Wonder if Harding makes it to UFA?...

he has 3 or 4 shutouts this year..

his stats this year are pretty damn good considering the defensive system that has been in front of him all season

reimer isnt even tracking the puck now.. he isnt reacting and almost seems lost when watching the play.. thats a bad bad sign for a goalie.. its one thing if you arent fast rnough.. thats conditioning.. but if you arent even tracking the puck well there is something severely wrong.

several haven't even proved themselves in the ahl....kadri is a ghost, colborne is horribly inconsistent with 5 or 6 goals in the last 40 games.

I'm actually relatively pro-Gus.

I think it's terrible how he was thrown under the bus earlier in the season, I don't think he's ever going to be an NHL #1 but I think he can be a capable #2.

As with many things, I think Leafs fans have been a bit too bi-polar when it comes to Gustavsson.
