I'd rather pick on Oshie as payback for them picking on Toews, then when Backes or Reaves comes to Oshie's defense...pummel one of them.
Try and turn the tables... Make them take an instigator. - Ogilthorpe2

Bollig hits people, Scott doesn't. That matters. Ask a meathead who's played hockey at a competitive level. - John Jaeckel
It would matter if he took a regular shift. But he doesn't. Since Q feels the need to play him five minutes, his "hits" don't have as much impact because they don't have the opportunity to multiply, compound and have an actual affect.... |

Let him get 20 games under his belt before we start talking regular shifts. |

That's a trick statement. If they played competitive hockey they would not be meatheads. |

I hope Bollig will run Backes instead of Oshie. - EKolb13
Bollig's line against Backes/Oshie is a great matchup for the Blues. If Bollig does do anything, Backes is a big guy who can handle him well enough.
Can you say the same about Patrick Kane or Marian Hossa handling Reaves when the retaliation comes? I'd suggest not hoping for stuff to happen to the other teams stars you aren't ready to happen to your own. |

So there is no one else to harass over in the Blues thread?

What I am waiting to see is when the Hawks do fight is it actually inspires the team. I think there was only one time this season, after a Mayers fight, that I noticed any meaningful surge. |

agree. scott wasnt fast enough to hit anyone. bolig is an upgrade on scott, not a lateral move.
also, on a late unrelated note, what the HELL are they thinking re-signing carcillo. he was done in my mind when he blew out his OWN knee on a dirty hit. - chitownhockey[/quote
He can play in the top six. He is physical. The hawks were successful with him in the line-up. He is the type of player they need. |

Um, Bollig isn't the only player on our team who can fight there guy. Mayers, Seabrook, and Bickell can also handle themselves (although Seabs and Bickell not as well as Bollig and Mayers). |

It was a dumb play, no question. However, of the many factors that separate the early season's success from their up and down play since right before Christmas, I think one of the biggest factors has been Carcillo's absence. I was not a fan of his signing in the summer but I was wrong. His energy, attitude and enthusiasm brought more glue than almost any of these guys (Mayers is still the best of the new bunch). At that salary, with his good hands, some speed and obvious grit, why not sign him? I would rather see him on the ice than Bickell any time. I am tired of pulling a Warren Zevon, screaming "hit somebody" at the TV all night---make other teams hear footsteps and they will make mistakes. Middling teams are having their best games against the Hawks because they are comfortable playing against them. Make them uncomfortable. |

Wow...I'd forgotten how awful that 88-89 team was...
335 Goals Against!!! ...and they were only 16 out of 21 teams. There was some serious goal scoring back in those days. |

IIRC, They had to get 2 pts on the RS finale to make it to the playoffs. In OT, Troy Murray stole the puck from Todd Gill in the deep slot and fired one in. Eventually lost to cow town in the CCF 4 games to 1. |

Maybe you haven't been paying attention but Toews has been out for a month. |

Backes needs a PHUCKING TUNE UP. That pr!ck seems to run around with impunity against us. Hopefully tonight..THAT CHANGES. - philco28
Yea that PHUCKING PHUCK PHUKCKING eats raw PHUCKING ass, I hope PHUCKING someone PHUCKING hits that PHUCKING PHUCK bag like a PHUCKING big mother PHUCKING man. PHUCK!
Regarding the scripted Bollig fight with Reaves... Which it will be... Scripted... If there is going to be a confrontation it should at least be meaningful not a circus act.
If they play like last game. Regardless of how boring it was. They should be able to secure at least a point. |

You're missing the point. If Blackhawks send 4th line players taking runs at top players, Blues will do the same. It doesn't matter who you have on the bench at that point. |

No you are the one missing the point. The reason most want the Hawks to take a run at an Oshie per say is cause the Blues have done it to the Hawks all year especially Toews.

It's coming back to me now. I had moved to California in 88' so keeping up our local heroes wasn't easy...pre internet and all. I recall catching SportsCenter for updates. |

I was at that game, the Stadium went nuts and you could slowly see the Keenan influence starting to get into that team. Also at the 7-1 drubbing they gave to Detoit to clinch the 1st round a week later. They had a good run in the playoffs that year. Goalies sucked however! |
