I'd like to see Hayes with Hossa and Kane to have a big body on that line and Bruno moved to the fourth line with Bollig and Mayers. - jhawk159
The reason that I have little issue with Brunette playing there is he gets out of the way and lets Kane and Hossa do their thing. Hayes would probably do the same thing only has significantly less experience playing with top tier players so either way.

Me too. Brunette slows everyone else down. He hurts Kane's game. |

According to this it was Chevrier in all 16 playoff games, Belfour with 23 regular season games. |

Also why #19 had a slower start because Pokey was on his line. |

In the 1989–90 season, Belfour began with the Canadian national men's hockey team, but was recalled by the Blackhawks for their postseason and set a 4-2 postseason mark with a 2.49 GAA. The nex season, Belfour became the starting goalie, and turned in what many consider to be one of the best rookie seasons in NHL history. He notched 43 victories in 74 games (both NHL rookie and Blackhawk team records), .........maybe it was regular season victories .....and he was brought up as a just in case. |

Yup, Nieuwendyk and McDonald from cow-town lit up Alain Chevrier; Vernon stoned the 'Hawks in the CCF. Can still remember to this day the guy in the Mezz one section over from me holding up the sign, "mow down cow town". |

You are right about 1989-90, but we were talking about the year before 88-89 when he had 23 regular season appearances. |

That's how you do it. And he is certailny capable of it. Though I'm not sure you want his line out against Oshie's.

I have a feeling one of these days Bollig and Backes are going to have a run in with each other and they are going to throw down. |

Bollig will fight Reaves. And it really won't matter one way or the other. They'll fight. Then Bollig will skate two or three more shifts and that'll be that. The only difference between this guy and John Scott is nobody ducks Brandon Bollig. With good reason. As much as he tries, he doesn't really punish anybody. He's kind of in that Cam Russell class of fighter, right below the heavyweights. He is a much better skater than Scott. But so what. Quenville trusts him to the same amount of minutes as John Scott so it's not like the 4th line gets to be a real 4th line.
He does seem to please the meatballs. So that's good...I guess. They seem to be out in full force.
To me the key tonight is the power play. The Blues are going to take penalties. The Blues are going to outhit the Hawks. Mark it down. The key to whether the Hawks get two points or not will be if they capitalize on heir chances. This idea of sending a message, answering the bell, making a statement......give me a break. This is the fifth time they've played. What could you possibly say that they don't already know?
The Hawks are going to get out hit tonight. There's going to be lots of silly posts tonight about the Hawks not being tough enough. It's so irrelevant it hurts my feelings. The advantage the Hawks have is that their top 3 can fill up the net much better than anyone on the Blues. Put them inthe position to do so, take the lead and then put the pressure on the Blues to try and play from behind. Not the easiest task in the world. But doable. |

Well said. I'm a fisticuffs fan so the pugilistic soap opera means something. But you're right, the chances of any showdown having any discernible impact on the actual game are slim.
I just don't like seeing the Tomahawk get pushed around, especially by a jerk like Hitchcock. Still, i'd like to see us play a disciplined game and avoid those lazy, stupid stick penalties. Shaw's high sticking call and Stalberg's late tripping call are exactly the type of dumb, lazy calls i want to see us avoid. |

Bollig hits people, Scott doesn't. That matters. Ask a meathead who's played hockey at a competitive level.

agree. scott wasnt fast enough to hit anyone. bolig is an upgrade on scott, not a lateral move.
also, on a late unrelated note, what the HELL are they thinking re-signing carcillo. he was done in my mind when he blew out his OWN knee on a dirty hit. |

I'd rather pick on Oshie as payback for them picking on Toews, then when Backes or Reaves comes to Oshie's defense...pummel one of them.
Try and turn the tables... Make them take an instigator. |
