when thinking about a healthy scratch if everyone gets healthy and Kreider comes, how about #17 at this point?
10:10 of icetime last night
zero shots on goal
a little over a minute on the penalty kill
he has entered completely useless-ville |

Could I have a comp for Krieder? Because in my memory the guys who come right in and contribute are skill guys who dominated in Canadian major junior, maybe with a few weeks in AHL playoffs on the way. What college guys have done that in the spring? I'm not saying he won't be good. But I just feel like expecting him to walk right in and compete in the NHL may be unrealistic. |

I mean his is a combination of size, speed, and skill. Managment is who is saying that he could step right in and produce. I tend to trust what they are thinking. I don't think this is just a hockeybuzz pipedream we have. This kid is for real. |

I seem to remember Tony Amonte came out and played real well as soon as he got out of college. I don't think anyone is expecting him to come in and be Wayne Gretzky, just to add alittle depth and size and I mean really, can he at least be better than Dubinsky? Look at how Hags has come right in and Step right out of college...so we shall see, I will pay attention to the Hockey NCAAs more than I ever have... |

Edit: I didn't mean postionally, just guys that came straight from college to the NHL. Of course, Leetch was a special case. |

Not to be argumentative, but Hags did play in the AHL playoffs last year. And had training camp. It IS a different game than college. The speed, in particular. I'm talking as a fan of a team that's had 12 rookies play this year and two in particular (Couturier and Read) contribute nightly. But all had training camp and many had some seasoning in the AHL. (And Read, although just coming from college, is a very old rookie.) |

Kreider has played with Stepan in the World Junior Championships, Stepan didn't need any AHL time.
It's not unprecedented at all.
When the Olympic teams were full of amateurs, like 1980-84-88, players from those teams went right from the Olympics to their pro teams, i.e. Ken Morrow, Pat Lafontaine, and Brian Leetch.
and in 1991, the Rangers brought in Amonte and Doug Weight and had them play playoff games right after their college seasons were over. |

Rangers better make sure they don't get too aggressive tomorrow night. Anyone else think that Crosby is going to be extra protected by the officials tomorrow or better yet, for the rest of the regular season?
A little late to this party, but I was a little busy removing the foot from my mouth, in regards to my Hagelin comments. |

Feet tastes like crows? That's nasty
Seriously though, the Rangers finally found a first line that can matchup with any top line in the league right now.
I hope Tortorella leaves Zuccarello in when Callahan returns. He is a spark plug who seems to always be around the net.
Mitchell or Dubinsky are the likeliest, for me anyway, to sit out when the captain returns.
Fedotenko works well with Prust and Boyle and you need Rupp in the lineup to keep opposing goons honest.

Zucc did see more time then both Dubi and Mitchel last night. If Cally is still out on Thursday you need to bump up Zucc to the Stepan, AA line and move Dubi down to the 4th line with Mitchel and Rupp |

Zuccarello has his weaknesses but offensively he is really talented. The Rangers need his skill on the power play. The team can be three lines deep offensively if he remains in te lineup and Callahan returns.
Although Biron was strong last night, Hank needs to return for tomorrow's game.
By far the biggest game of this season. |

If he's going to be hurt, he can be hurt as easily with a legal hit. And if they get called 2 mins for one of those, but it rattles Syd, so be it. It's not a bad tradeoff. Just don't do anything stupid and run around looking for him. I don't think it's just minutes that has them putting him on a line with Cooke. Keep your heads up boys. |

pretty amazing stretch he is on.
Also amazing that despite having 4 shutouts in 6 games he has only managed to lower his GAA to 2.53.
still, in all seriousness, gotta be a good feeling for a Flyer fan to be able to exhale over this guy a little bit, because he is your guy for a long time. |

It's a tale of two seasons. Since the ASG he's 1.65 .937. Of course he's not always going to be this good. But I highly doubt he'll be as bad as he was in the first half for any extended period. He's a very good goaltender who can get crazy hot and had trouble adjusting to the new team/city, rather than a bad goaltender who's crazy hot.

Team is playing better defense in front of him. A good goalie but a nine year contract for two good seasons in his career is still a bad contract.
Congratulations on having a goalie with a save percentage above .900, pretty awesome.

Everything evens out at the end of the day. Was he as bad as the first five months of the season showed? No. But is he as good as this current streak? No
Brian Boucher had five consecutive shutouts a few years back. Sometimes a goalie gets hot for a stretch.
