The real question is if Bryzgalov posts a shutout in every game for the rest of the regular season does he win the Vezina? - keatondixon
I don't think Bryz will play ever single game the rest of the season so I would say no. |

Lilja has been nothing but solid in his role all Season. Quality signing by Holmgren in choosing him for the veteran 7th spot. - MJL
he was signed to replace o'donnell's spot as a #6 guy, but he couldn't cut it- thats the reality. he's ok in a 7th dman role and it's likely that we'll really appreciate the ability to turn to a veteran in the plyoffs if we continue to have injuries. gusty has played well lately, though. |

Funniest part was when he tried to get facts showing that Bryz is inconsistent. He got shat on by everyone - Richieattack18
He is relatively inconsistent, but his stats didn't back him up at all. He does have a cold spell, but usually most goaltenders have one too.
Not many players in this league are consistent. |

I don't see him posting a shutout but one goal or less the rest of the way isn't out of the question either. Man that would be some poop if he won the vezina this year. Even if he was a runner up again, highly unlikely though. |

Quick question guys. If Bryzgalov finishes out the season at or below his career averages, gets on a roll and takes us deep in the playoffs, is this a type of season we should be accepting for the remainder of his tenure here? I'm rather mixed about it and would like to hear some of your opinions. - JoeRussomanno
No, I think you can expect him to be a very good goalie generally with occasional streaks of great, like lately and occasional slumpy periods, because every goalie (even King Henrik) has those. But the first half of this year was him getting used to a new situation while putting pressure on himself because of the deal he signed. IMHO. |

yea that's what I thought. Just hope Lundqvist doesn't win it because I like using that against rag fans |

That is absolutely not the reality. He was not signed to be a full time player. Just your spin on it. He was signed to be the team's 7th defenseman. And a veteran depth player. He has cut it, and has been cutting it all Season. Give the player his due.
Lilja hasn't played near a full NHL Season since 07/08. And Holmgren signed him to be a regular every day player? I don't think so. |

Okay use my words against me on Briere but whatevs (how's that for using words ) anyway yea I guess if he becomes a goalie version of Briere, what's your take then? For the record up until now I thought Briere has been a success just I wish he carried the team throughout the year more. My criticism and suggesting that if amnesty becomes a reality to use it on him is due to the possibility he is not the player he was 2-3 years ago. - JoeRussomanno
I'd be OK if he became a goalie version of Briere. I feel he's more likely to thrive at an advanced age than Briere, too.
Danny's a small guy who is getting on in years. He's been banged up this year and his play hasn't been great.
I have faith Briere will turn it around this year...but I'm not sold he'll be as able to be effective in another year or two. |

Lavy would feel obligated to keep playing a guy who has 10 shutouts in a row ...he would definitly be a Vezina candidate but still wouldn't win it IMO |

When he signed I think he had the opportunity to come in and compete for the six spot but he wasnt guaranteed it. |

See that's why I preach amnesty for him if it is a reality. Don't get me wrong if there was no cap I probably wouldn't be whining. Just I think we might get caught in a scott gomez situation. Hope I'm wrong. |

If he would let in 2 goals or less the rest of the games this year and say posted 5 shutouts (yeah i know, unlikely ) His numbers would be tops. Don't you think? |

you're also gonna need lundy to poop the bed the rest of the way and I just don't see him being bad for that long of a stretch. Now perhaps elliot could beat him out for it? Otherwise I'd say Bryz would be a long shot. |

As any team would, they were going to mix in the younger players such as Gustafsson, to let them start their NHL career. Gustafsson was deemed NHL ready last year. But like in any Season injuries and setbacks happen. And you need a veteran to fill in. Lilja has done a solid job doing so.

Walker, Lilja, Gust, Marshall were all suppose to compete for that spot during camp. |

O'Donnell was last year. That doesn't mean Lilja was signed to replace O'Donnell. And he wasn't. The Flyers had plans to work the young players such as Gustafsson in the mix.

I agree with you. Lilja is a depth defenseman. I dont think the Flyers said your going to be our number six. They gave him the opportunity to compete for the spot. |
