You guys think flyers resting defense to fall to sixth to have easier first round match up? I would rather play the winner of the southeast conference....than face pitt. - Philly1980
I think their trying to rest their defenseman that are injured. Lets get them healthy (as much as possible) and have them ready for the playoffs.

Im looking on the bright side of the whole thing. I expect all of them to be back by playoff time...BUT, if one or two or three start dropping in the playoffs, they will have a good number of callups available that have had a decent amount of NHL time on their docket this season. Gus, Marshall, Bourdon, Manning, Lilja. Its a good reserve to have when the top 6 d-men inevitably start dropping like flies.

To be the best, you have to beat the best. The Flyers need to continue rolling. - BoomGoesTheCoburn
Exactly! All this "oh we need to drop in the standings to get Florida" is the talk of the afraid. Might as well find out early on just how good you are. I get it that the idea is to let the other teams get banged up but remember the Flyers will be as equally or in their case more banged up than the competition.

I really hope the reported J.T. Brown rumors come to fruition. The kid has some major moxie and was the most noticeable Bulldog during their championship run last season.

They have some depth with their defenseman but I rather not have to play any of the young guys during the playoffs (maybe one at most). If the Flyers are going to have a legit shot for cup run their going to need those defenseman back and to stay healthy imo. Lets get healthy.
Timonen, Kubina, Coburn, Mez, Grossmann, Carle (thats six quality defenseman).

I'm wondering why he hasn't been drafted...he's been eligible for, what, 2 years? 3?

When Timonen comes back do you split the Grossmann/Coburn pairing? Kimmo and Braydon have an earned level of comfort with each other, but playing alongside Grossmann has seemingly revitalized Coby.

I would have no problem with them keeping that pairing. They could use Timonen with Mez. Put Kubina and Carle together also. Lavi has plenty of options as all six d-men can play.

A couple of years, yeah. Not sure what the story is there, but he definitely has the talent and drive to become a contributing member of a NHL club. He's a spark plug. If anyone enjoys college puck, you should keep an eye on UMD - they are a fun team to watch.

I dont want to play any of them either. But my point is that if we lose someone, we dont have to view it as the sky falling. 2004 being a great example of us getting crushed with defensive injuries.

They are towering pillars on the back-end, that is for sure. The type of physicality that they bring is formidable in the playoffs.
