Remember the progression of Bourdon? Looked great then as he kept playing, looked more and more like there needed to be an upgrade. My guess is the same with Manning. Looks promising, but likely needs more development time in the AHL. They should play the veteran Lilja. That's what he's here for.

I agree. Lilja is a regular on this team with an extra season on his contract. Manning is a rookie and I'm pretty sure the games count against him from which we can send him up and down.

If Lilja can lose taking one 2 minutes penalty a game, he's fine as a player. However, if we could ship him out for another vet 6th/7th Dman, I'd be all for that too.

Didn't say it would be the same. But Manning has played how many games in the Pro ranks. You don't think it is likely that he may not be ready for a full time role in the NHL?

I think I do know Joe. He's played like he has promise. But the worst thing you can do is rush the kid. He's only here due to a lot of injuries.
